“ft has often been sold that circum-
stantial evidence Is the sironest of
any known, but In *otne cases It won't
hold water and such a case arose at
Kemp recently. A young man, who Is
a civil engineer in the employ of tha
8. P. aystem, was In town and met
up with some young ladles that be
knew. They went to a cold drink par-
lor aud while seated at the table nib-
bling their Ice cream he suggested
they drive down to Athens. When
they came out of the store there was
a new Ford parked In front of It and
the young lady, thinking It was his car
got In. Of course, he thought It was
her car and they drove to Fast Kemp
to get another young lady to go to Hie
Henderson county metropolis. Pretty
soon a funner from down the river,
got ready to go home and went to put
his groceries In hla car and 1o and
behold to his dismay the car had dis-
appeared. Joe Allen happened to see
the young folks drive off In the car
fortunately caught them at the home
of the girl before they had gone very
for, else they would have been on
their way to Athena when the farmer
started homo. It was a plain rase of
plrcumsantlal evidence—the girl
thought it wa„ the young man’s car,
and the young man thought It belonged
fo the young lady. Quite a lot of fun
wag had and the young man says he
learned a lesson that will stay through
life.’’—Kemp News. *
