“I never did have as much sport/’
said Mr. West before leaving. Weath-
er conditions were unfavorable for
fishing the first few days but this was
made up for Tuesday and Wednesday
when I got into the tarpon while fish-
ing from the South jetty. Tuesday I
was fishing with my light tackle that
I use on Medina lake, and after tarpon
had broken my line five different times
I thought I would feed them a Dow-
agiac and a 6-footer proceeded to eat
it up. Wednesday I got eight tarpon
strikes which kept me busy mending
broken lines. I also caught some
mackerel and entertained myself by
moonlight fishing for sea pike about
the government wharf. Our trip was
a joy from beginning to end.”
