It's late in the semester and
I'm feeling reflective. The
university said good-bye to
an art professor sculptor and
friend on Tuesday April 20
when the memorial service for
Mr. Ira Taylor was held in
Logsdon Chapel. This service
started me to thinking about
how temporary life can be-
come. I was in Mr. Taylor's de-
sign class when he became ill
last semester. I still remember
the smell of the pipe smoke.
Whenever our class would
take a break he would whip
out his pipe and head for the
faculty lounge. He also had
this unique southern accent
that I still hear when I'm work-
ing in the Frost Center for the
'Visual Arts. I am thankful I
had the opportunity to take a
class under someone of Ira
Taylor's quality.
We have to say good-bye
to many things throughout our
lives sometime friends or rela-
tives. But it's good to keep in
mind that change is good even
if it's painful for a time. I also
remind myself that I can hold
onto the memories. I hope you
will make some good memo-
ries while you are at HSU and
that you can look back on your
time here as a time of growth
and expand your knowledge
and friendships.
Hang in there the semes-
ter is almost over you're
going to make it!

" Remember all we have to do is put on a good show! You just
hang on and I'll drag you around awhile then I'll go down real
easy like and everyone wil be happy!."
