To The Citizens
Of Delta County
May I ask your help for the
next few months? I am seeking
the office of t h e Assessor-Col-
lector of our county.
In announcing for this office I
do so realizing the vast import-
ance of it, and too, believing
that my qualifications are such
that would merit it.
I have been a resident of Delta
County for the past 38 years. In
1930 I married Miss Dovie Ray
| Polk a lifelong resident of Delta
I County. We have been entrusted
with four fine children, one of
which gave his life in the serv-
ice of his country and the others
with families and living out of
Cooper.
I attended schools in Lamar
I County where 1 finished High
’ School and Lamar Business Col-
lege and later accepted a posi-
tion in the grocery business until
going in the gin business.
From 1937 to 1964 I managed
4 Cotton gins in this county.
One at Vasco, Texas where I had
part ownership, one at Enlos,
one at Lake Creek and one in
Cooper. In the realm of the
management came the responsi-
bility of keeping records and
working with and for people.
I realize that the Assessoi
Collector should have a know-
ledge of property value in order
to assess the taxes correctly and
since I have owned both real
estate and personal property for
several years and have kept my
taxes paid up to date I believe
I have the knowledge of the
needs of this office.
I have never sought a public
office before and if you will
elect me to this necessary office
I will do my very best to fill the
position in such way that you
will be glad that you elected me.
Before the first primary I will
put forth a great effort to see
each of you. Please, in the mean
time, tell your friends and neigh-
bors about me and I will appre-
ciate your vote and influence.
Sincerely,
B. O. (Reg) Deweese
