Nicholas Jonas and his bride have
arrived in Bonham. Mention was
made of the wedding some little time
since by the Favorite, and now the
couple is here. Nicholas brought
some of his relatives back with him
from Corfu, Greece, his native town,
bringing Mary Jonas, a niece, Nick
Martzoukos, a nephew, and also
Chiist Walker. "Nick” says he has
traveled some in his time, having
been in Africa, over most of F.urope
and over a great deal of this country.
He says he speaks six languages well
enough to get along with the people
using them, and they are Greek, his
native tongue, French. Knglish, Ital-
ian, Assyrian and -Spanish.
Nick says his wife was just a little
girl when lie left Greece, and that
when he went home to see his mother
and father his mother told him sh<
thought he ought to marry, and that
she had picked him a wife. To this
he -aid, "All right, Mommer.” Hi
wife was a next door neighbor, and
while this Greek custom is somewhat
different from what we have here,
Nick and his wife seem just as happy
as anybody who wooed iu the good
old United States way. We some-
times hear of a mother in this coun-
try picking a son-in-law, but hardl\
ever hear of them choosing a wife
for their sons.
Nick said they had some pretty
rough sailing coming over, as it tnok
eight days account of bad weather.
Ordinarily it takes six days to come
over.
