defeated Rivercrest 24-Id and
the Varsity fell 41 64 Monday.
November 20.
Emily Oats led the J.V. team
to their victory with 10 points.
Debbie Blaghurn and Julie Lit-
tle got six each, and Lea Stock-
ton added two.
LeAnn Proctor was high scor-
er for the Bulldogettes with 13
points, followed by Regina Glos-
sup with ten. Robbie Shipp - 8,
Lisa Davis 4. Stacie Pollard - 3,
and Anita Moody - 2.

again split the games. Emily
Oats scored 14 points to help the
J V . post their 32-25 win. Little
scored eight points; Blagburn -

the Varsity's 36-74 loss. Davis
made seven points and Proctor
added six.

rolled at Cooper High School
since the Thanksgiving Holi-
days.
Terry Gessman and Albert
Goforth are new Sophomores.
Terry has transferred from
Cumby High School and is the
grandson of Mr. and Mrs Em-
mett Gillean and lives at Mt.
Joy. He belongs to the F.F.A.
and Biology Club and enjoys
raising animals. Albert is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Goforth and resides at Lake
Creek. He came from South
Grand Prairie High School and
likes to bowl and hunt.
Freshman Keven Hayhurst
transferred from Lewisville
High School and resides in
Cooper with his parents.

Teams Involved In Tournament
The Girls' Varsity lost two
heart stoppers in the Pittsburg
Tournament last Friday and
Saturday.
In overtime Cooper dropped
Friday's squeaker 52-54 to
North Lamar. Robbie Shipp led
the scoring attack with 17
points, and Lisa Davis and Re-
gina Glossup had 16 each.
Host team. Pittsburg, took
Saturday's battle 44-43. Again.
Glossup. Davis and Shipp were
high scorers.
Kelly Walker was a defensive
standout in both games.
The Junior Varsity Girls lost
their Pittsburg Tournament
opener to North Lamar 7-24 last
Friday afternoon. Emily Oats
led scoring with four points.
They reversed the tide Sat-
urday and handed Daingerfield
a 33-18 defeat. Juli Little led
scoring with 11 points while Lisa
Barnard and Lea Stockton hit for
six each.
Lisa Barnard also played a
good defensive game.
The Varsity will play in the
Arlington Classic beginning to-
night. The first district game
against Howe w ill be here Tues-
day, December 12. immediately
following the Boys' J.V. game
which begins at 5:30.
NHS Elects Representatives
Michelle Reiber was elected
NHS Student Council represen-
tative at a called meeting of the
National Honor Society Wed-
nesday, November 29, m the
auditorium.
Brent Burns. Curtis Blag-
burn. Linda Toles and Beverly
Stegall were selected to serve as
a committee to plan a joint
Christmas Party with the Stu
dent Council.
Suggestions were made for a
service project for the school, a
money making project, an as-
sembly for the school and the
Honors Banquet to be held in
the Spring.

John Blackwell, Brent Burns,
Bill West, David Preas. Curtis
Blagburn. Peter Mark Tatum,
Beverly Stegall. Jimmy God-
dard. Michelle Reiber, Angela
Wilkins, Paula Wilkerson, Ncl-

Attendance High For Six Weeks
Principal Jerry Dulin an-
nounced the following atten-
dance percentages for the se-
cond six weeks: Seniors, 97.07
percent; Juniors, 96.63 percent;
Sophomores, 95.18 percent and
Freshmen. 98.01 percent.
Principal Terry Burns an-
nounced Junior High and Ele-
mentary attendance: 8th Grade,
96.39 percent; 7th Grade, 97.07
percent; 6th Grade. 95.78 per-
cent; 5th Grade, 96.47 percent;
4th Grade, 96.95 percent; 3rd
Grade, 96.90 percent; 2nd
Grade. 96.23 percent; 1st
Grade, 97.42 percent and Kin-
dergarten. 96.19 percent.
The seventh and eighth
grades were awarded a fifteen
minute break November 20-22
for having attendance above 96
percent. All Elementary classes
had better than 96 percent, but
their reward has been postpon-
ed because of inclimate weath-
er.
The seventh grade boys lost
their season opener to the Ho-
nev Grove Braves, 20-26, last
I hursdav in their first game of
the Roxton Tournament. Jerry
Jackson and Carl Wiley led
scoring w ith six points each and
Darren Hagan and David Ver-
aska added four apiece.
They heat Sam Rayburn in
tournament play Friday after-
noon in a close battle. 28-27.
Wiley was high point with ten.
This w in advanced the boys, and
they played Deport Saturday,
losing to the Tigers 13-29. Steve
James and Carl Wilev each got
tour points to lead scoring.
Veraska and Wiley were cited
as defensive standouts for the
games.
According to Coach Eddie
Irapp, ‘‘These were the first
three basketball games our sev-
enth grade has ever played.
Inexperience was a big factor in
our two losses and much im-
provement is expected."

Named To
Region Band
Eight CHS students were
named to the All-Region Class A
Band after tryouts Saturday,
December 2. at Queen City-
Jimmy Bradford placed se-
cond chair tuba, Doug Winter-
mute - third chair trombone,
Robert Spillers - fourth chair
trombone, Dyan Hagan - fourth
chair bass clarinet, Brian Mes-
sick - fifth chair trumpet. D.D.
Young - fourth chair tuba, David
Abernathy - ninth chair trumpet
and Tammy Barr - tenth chair
clarinet.

concert Saturday, December 9.

The Cooper Junior High
building has recently been re-
painted, including classrooms,
lockers and the hall.
Seventh Grader Ron Maddox
killed an 80 pounds Spike at
Brady. Texas over the Thanks-
giving holidays.
