‘fluffy Ruffles” at Grand.
Noggie Noggles, that effervescent
newspaper reporter whose chief
characteristic was a line of rapid
tire, hot off-the bat talk for every
one who crossed his path, scored a
great “beat” at the Grand Friday
night when he sped away from
his English newspaper rival, An*
gusta Twaddle, and won winsome
Fluffy Buttles as his bride. Nog
gie not only “scooped” the En-
glishmen, but, to somewhat twist
one of his own “handouts,” he
“Backed all her other numerous
admirers up against a rubber fence
and bounced them away.”
And charming Florence Gear—
just about the cutest ind spright-
liest bit of feminity seen on the
stage here in a long while—made
| of Fluffy Buttles heiself a newspa
per woman aud also after a“beat,’l
a thoroughly fascinating charac
ter. It was no surprise that the
male characters in the show were
all in love with her. Bhe even had
the audience “going.”
Aud it was all done, too in one
of the merriest of merry musical
comedies of the season. Fluffy
Butties is a genuine mixture of
high-class comedy—the kind that
makes you laugh—the tuneful,
bracing sort—and a bunch of girls.
It starts out with a rush, and there
are three full acts of it—never a
lagging moment.
The whole action is“chock full”
of bright and witty sayings and
they come so fast that if you tried
to remember them you would lose
time and miss something else. John
J. McGowan, as Noggie, did most
of this, He “put ’em over the
plate,” as he would say, some
thiug on this order:
“Been out West, ehl Have
trouble with any stage robbersl”
“Yes; I took a chorus girlout
to dine.”
Harry B. ltoche, as the English-
man, was clever, as was Victor Le-
Boy iis Herbert Heushaw. The
whole compauy made good- and
it’s a good show. — Atlanta
