HUGO. Ok , Feb. 3.—White Newber-
ry, well-known cattle man of Honey
dnre. Texas, was slugged and robbed
«r $4,100 In his room in a local hotel
atiortly after 5 o’clock Friday mom-
tag- according to information given
officers about 10 o’clock.
Eewberry was placed in an ambu-
lance and taken to a Paris, Texas,
hospital where he partially regained
•onaciousness. He said that he had
•risen about 5 o'clock and gone to a
feretory down the hall from his room
when some one struck him on the
head He was reported to have had

bills in his possession He had been
here several days buying cattle

erating in an investigation. Police

Our school was turned out Wednes-
day at noon In order to visit the Tex-
as Farm and Home special education-
al train at Pecan Gap.
The Yowell boys defeated Bagley
boyj'44 to 10 Friday afternoon. Some
good playing was done on both teams.
The Yowell girls defeated Bagley
girls 13 to 2 Friday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Billingsly
are the proud parents of a fine baby
girl, born to them Friday.
Jim Millsap of West Texas has been
visiting his daughters, Mrs. Lillian
James and Mrs. Fred Rodrick
Miss Annie Moon, assistant teacher
of our school, spent the week end
with home folks at Ben Franklin.
Lee Bob Johnson was called to Pe-
can Gap Sundav to the bedside of his
father, who is ill.
Tom Eden and wife of West Texas
have been visiting his sister, Mrs. Jim
Bishop.
Mrs Lillian James and sister. Miss
Christine Millsap. were in Commerce
Wednesday.
Albert Bishop and wife spent Sun-
day night at Lost Prairie with her
narents. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harrison,
and children.

CENTER, Texas* Feb 5.—Center
will soon have a $40,000 creamery, the
first to be located in Texas by the
Dixie Creameries, which is operating
nearly a score of plants in Louisiana
and Arkansas. Work on the building
will begin in ten days.
The company puts $25,000 into the
project and citizens of Center contri-
bute $15,000 The plan represent* sev-
eral months of efforts by the Cham-
ber of Commerce to find an outlet for
the dairy products of Shelby Count-
tv. The plans call for the creamerf
to be In running condition in six
weeks.

in the cemetery at Lisbon, on the
southern outskirts of Dallas, will re-
ceive the cfskets of Mr. and Mrs.
M. J Nelson, victims of a double
shooting Thursday afternoon at the
Nelson home. Funeral services will
be held at 2 p. m. Saturday.
Five girls, ranging in age from 2
to 11 years, orphanaged by the dou-
ble killing, have been taken into the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F.
Nelson, thecr uncle and aunt.

Negro Gets Five Years
TEXARKANA. Texas. Feb. 4 — i
George Williams, negro, convicted of
murder late last night by a District
Court jury, was senenced today to
five years’ imprisonment in the Tex-
as penitentiary.
The State proved that William* was
Intoxicated when the automobile he
was driving here last October struck !
and killed a 7 year old boy.

University Student
GREENVILLE, Texas. Feb. 1.—Rich-
ard Kain. 19. a Junior at Fit. Edward’s j
University at Austin, whose skull was ;
fractured in an automobile collision |
at Austin last Thursday, died in a
local hospital here.
He is survived by his parents, also
one brother and one sister. The body
will be sent to Denison for burial.

'Clarksville Times '
A small truck used in transport-
ing faur cases of dvnamite and one
case of caps from Clarksville to one
of the river section farms is reported
to have turned over near Whiterock
Sunday afternoon. The driver and
other occupants of the car escaped
injury. Members of a wrecking crew
from Clarksville gathered the boxes
of dynamite along the roadside.
