THE HEBBKONV1LLE NEWS
WHERE SERVICE BEGINS
(By Falfurrias Subscriber)
To the Epco Papers
' ou may advertise your Service on a Big Tin Sign
You may blow about it daily in the Press
Your salesmen may be taught to crack it up as superfine
^ our letters may proclaim its flawlessness.
But unless the man who renders it has friendship in his soul;
Is human, sympathetic, prompt and fair,
If he can t admit an error and still play the gracious role
Y our ballyhoo won’t get you anywhere.
True Service is the outgrowth of a love for humankind
Of sympathy towards every fellow creature,
All the buildings and precision tools that ever were designed
Can’t alone make it a business-getting feature.
It’s the spirit of your business that makes service win or lose
The good-will that is so vital to success
And the boss himself is generally the fellow to diffuse
The essence of good cheer or grouchiness.
So when the kicks come thick and fast and everything’s upset,
And you’re at your wits end puzzling what to do
The place to start reforming, it’s a more than even bet,
Is directly at the top, old chap—with YOU.
IN THE HOTEL LOBBY—

gas can be used in the furnaces, its
so easy.
Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Austin came
down from the Robt. E. Lee in San
Antonio, to spend the day with Laredo
friends. Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler and
Mrs. Sullivan formed a party motor-
ing in from Galveston. They went
on to Monterey also for a visit and
to see something of Old Mexico. Also
quite a few pepole motored up from
Hebbronville, to see the picture, “The
Gold Digger of Broadway,” on at the
Royal last week. Now that the
highway is completed it takes no time
to drive over. It is rumored, and on
Very good authority that the Pick-
wick Bus line will soon be taking over
the Union Bus lines, and making
improvement, and before very long
there will be a bus line all the way
from Los Angeles to Laredo, and that
as soon as the road to Mexico City is
finished, which is expected to be about
this time next year there will be reg-
ular Pullman busses with diners.
Laredo, so the rumor goes, is to be
the main point of entry from the U.
S. A. into and out of Mexico, and the
government is going to have it placed
in gold letters on all the maps.
Sunday being election day in Mex-
ico the International bridge was clos-
ed all day up to five o’clock, no one
being allowed to go in or come out
during that time.

SAFE
Because It Is Certain
to be a 3000 foot test.
Amos Dinn No. 3 Gareia-Ramos in
Share B-l La Mestina y Gonzalena
grant of Brooks county is drilling at
800 feet.
Sun Oil Co., No. 1 Berry in Section
9 of LaSalle county ia reported drill-
ing at 320 feet.
Several of the gassers in different
parts of the district that have been
furnishing gas for fuel for the past
year or so are now reported showing
some oil. Many oil men have often
predicted that the big gassers would
eventually turn to oil in this district
and whether it will come true is only
a question of giving the gassers time
to do their stuff.
Texas Co. is drilling a deep test in
Porcion No. 67 on the Guerra land in
Starr County.
A drill pipe test was made with
testing tools which showed 39 joints
of oil and mud at a depth of 3590
feet. Casing has been set at 3560
feet and the well will be drilled in
and bailed as soon as the cement sets.
High Gravity
The Texas Co., has drilled several
wells in this part of the county and
have made one or two shallow gass-
•rs. One of their deep tests showed oil
and gas at several depths and the well
was abandoned around 4500 feet
where it had a good amount of high
gravity but not sufficient flow to
make a commercial well.
Starr county has long been a fav-
orite with geologists and oil men on
account of so many good looking
structures and the many big shells
and other petrol bearing formationa
cropping out along the high cliffs and
in the beds of creeks and low places.
The Texas Co’s. No. 1 Guerra, the
well just tested and showing 39 joints
of oil and mud is the best indication
of a commercial oil well that Starr
county has shown up to this time and
should the well come in a good pro-
ducer, a rush will be staged for acre-
age and royalties and a drilling cam-
paign will be started in earnest. Most
of the major companies hold large
leases in Starr county.

Richter’s Department Store
To Our Friends and Customers:
It is human nature in business to get all the trade
you can; the consumer on the other hand wants to
see his town progress; you can never build up
your town by sending away for everything you
need; if you have good merchants in your town,
patronize them; we feel that they may not be in
position to supply some of your wants and that
is the part of your trade we would appreciate and
give you service.
