Met at.Owensville
The Better Homes Club met at th"
Chvensville club house March 2d. The
subject for the afternoon was “Sand
wiches." Miss Cutsard gave a very
interesting demonstration. Chicken,
toasted cheese, pimento, raisin, pea
nut butter, toasted orange and ribbon
sandwiches were made.
A good number of membeis were
present. “The Peter Pan Dress” con-
test ended that day arid there were
a number of very attractive dresses
made. Mrs. Gene Edmonston’s dress
won the prize, which was a dress pat-
tern of Peter Pan, given by the mak-
er.. of Peter Ian materials.

Home Makers Club
Held Peppy Meeting
The Home Makers Club met March

The home demonstration agent gave n
demonstration of different stitches
hml their uses. She also gave a talk
on draperies, and showed the mem-
bers how inexpensive draperies might
be very attractively made from chce.-e
doth. The draperies were dyed a
soft yellow, and the ruffles were tye
dyed yellow, blue and green. The
backs were yellow.
The next meeting will he April 14.
The subject for the meeting is “Milk
and Egg Dishes.” All mem tiers and
others interested are urged to be pres-
ent.

Spanish Trail Plan
West Texas Trip

SAN ANTONIO, Tex., April 4.—
Plans to make the Weft Texas sec-
tion of the O. S. T. noted for its beau-
ty are taking more definite shane by
the announcement that the women
of the Old Spanish Trail Beautifica-
tion Department intend a trip to El
Paso about April 21st, 22ud and 23rd
meeting the women ulong (he way
and reaching El Paso Monday, April
26th for a meeting there.
This work is being organized ad
across the continent. The women or-
ganized at Houston for the East Tex-
as section February 27th. Califor-
nia, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida
are getting at work. West Texans
are acquainted with the plans to wid-
en and beautify the road from San
Antonio to Boerne; for eight miles
the fences have already been placed
back on the 100 foot line. A way-
side paik has been donated and is
being improved at a cost of about
$4,000.00. Contracts have been let
for granite markers at the Bexar—j
Kendall county line at a tost of $600.1
Mrs. W. F. Sorrell, National Direc-1
tor of the beautification work, will
lead th? parly; other women director
members of the national Board of
Managers will accompany her. A state
director for West Texas will be ap-
pointed and whenever the people are
ready a local or county organization
will he effected among the women.
The schedule will lie planned accord-
ing to the stops people may arrange,
