Whereas, the House of represen-

ing $25,000,000 for the purpose of im-
proving the public highways.
And whereas, the said bill is now
pending in the Senate and should that
body concur in the acts of the lower
house then Texas v/ould, according to
the general provisions of the bill, re-
ceive about $900,000 per year, provid-
ed that the state establishes the of-
fice of Road Commirsioner and furth-

bill. ‘ -
And whereas, the public roads are
an important part of the great ar-
teries of commerce, it necessarily fol-
lows that more elaborate provisions
should be made for their construction
and general upkeep.
And whereas, many of our puolic
officials have recognized the unfeas-
ibility of the present system now in
vogue, to provide sufficient means to
construct and .maintain public high-
ways, and realizing the need of Fed-

ceeded in passing in the lower branch
of congress a bill that will very ma-

building permanent good roads.

Resolved, 1st, that the Delta Coun-

sembled, do hereby most heartily en-
dorse the present act of the House of
Representatives and urge upon our
people the importance of taking this |
matter up with our senators and ear-
nestly urge upon them to give this
measure their support and influence.
Resolved 2nd. that we urge upon
our next legislature to enact a law
creating the office of road commis-

Resolution No. 2.
Whereas, there is a bill now pend-1

Resolved 2nd, that we hereby rec-
