Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Golden of Roxton announce the
engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Karin
knn, to Robert Lee Douglas, son of Mrs. M.S. Douglas of Enloe
and the late M.S. (Fatty) Douglas.
The couple will be married Saturday, November 5. in a formal
ceremony at the First Baptist Church in Roxton. Rev. Larry
Solice will hear the couple’s vows.
The bride elect is a graduate of Roxton High School, Paris
Junior College and East Texas State University. She is employed
with the Roxton Independent School District.
The prospective groom is a graduate of Cooper High School
sod East Texas State University. He is employed at the Enloe
State Bank in Enloe.
Friends and relatives of the couple are invited to attend the
ceremony. No formal invitations will be sent.

Carl Deatherage has been
moved into a private room at St.
Joseph Hospital in Paris after
being in ICU. His condition is
reported slightly improved from
a heart attack he suffered at his
home. Billy and Peggy Sandlin,
Grand Prairie. Ronnie and Ka-
thv Deatherage of Dallas, and
James Deatherage visited him
and Ruby Saturday.
Mrs. Grace Sandlin is a resi-
dent at Birchwood Manor in
Cooper. Her daughter and hus-
band, Mr. and Mrs. Marlin
Cobb, Lewisville, were here last
Wednesday to take care of busi-
ness. Billy Sandlin visited her
Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Bowen
of Garland, visited Mrs. Lois
Bowen, Ann and Noel Bowen
Saturday.

night at the Center with these

afternoon. The Cummings and
Mrs. Susie Calvert visited
friends in Birchwood Manor.

Sr. were in McKinney Wednes-
day night to attend a Dekalb-
Pfizer meeting at the Holiday
Inn.
Mrs. Christine Herring, Mar-
ietta, visited Mr. and Mrs. L.
M. Yeager the past weekend.
Jerry Yeager and family, Honey
Grove, visited Sunday after-
noon.
The CPR course taught by
Don Paxton, Cooper, and Don
French, Pecan Gap, was held at
the Pecan Gap Senior Citizens
Center with eight ladies com-
pleting the 8-hour course. They
were Billie Allison, Lorene Lan-
caster, Evelyn Reid, Imogene
Merrill, Glenna Runnels, Peggy
Holder, Mildred Lohman, and
Corine Langston. Mary Jo Yea-
ger and Betty Hohenburger took
the first four hours but were
unable to take the last four. At
the conclusion, the ladies were
given a written test which all
passed and were presented a
card showing their accomplish-
ment.
Mr. and Mrs. John Reid were
in Farmersville Sunday after-
noon to visit her aunt, Mrs.
Effie Chitty.
Mrs. Dutch Erwin had a
Home Decorating party Sunday
afternoon at her home with 15
guests attending. Imogene Mer-
rill won the door prize.
Mrs. Orville Thurman was in
Commerce recently on business
and visited relatives, Mr. and
Mrs. Glen McDowell. Glen had
undergone open heart surgery
recently in a Dallas hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Merrill
visited Mr. and Mrs. W. M.
Thomas in Ladonia last Wed-
nesday. They were in Bonham
on Monday.
Mrs. Monroe Singleton visit-
ed Mrs. Naomi Giddens at
Birchwood Manor Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. James S. Clark
and Keith, Greenville, were Sat-
urday guests of Mrs. Frankie
Clark.
Mrs. Martha Arnold, Green-
ville, visited Ann Bowen and
other relatives Tuesday.

Richardson have returned from
a trip to New Mexico and

The Tom A. Lambeth Drama-
tic Club held its first meeting of
the club year at the home of
Mrs. Norvelle Stockton with
Mrs. Pauline Hooks as co-
hostess. The invocation was
given by Mrs. Ruth Scott.
Club president Eileen Wright
presided over the business
session at which time matters of
Federation business, club pro-
jects and plans for the coming
year were discussed. Treasurer
Mrs. Hooks presented the bud-
get report. Ruth Scott gave the
Federation Counselor’s report

plans for a fall board meeting in
Bogata.
The club collect was led by
Betty Zoe Baker and the litany-

Friday night, there was a
gospel singing, with the Kelsos
as guests. A good crowd was in
attendance and refreshments
were seived.
Volunteers for bingo this
week were Katherine Kennedy,
Goldie Stanley and Janita Terry.
Prizes for bingo were chocolate
candy, bananas and cookies.
Sunday school was held at 9
a.m. and afternoon services at 2
p.m. Sunday.
Bro George, Betty Guffey,
Bro. Maxon and Faye Kelso
held early devotion. Bro. Green
and Mrs. Small brought the
mid-week services.
The Sunshine Ladies were
here Thursday for quilt piecing.
Refreshments were served to
the residents and volunteers.
Winner of the Spelling Bee
this week was Juanita Cum-
mings. A chocolate candy bar
was given to the winner.
