Grove Signal,
The editor of the Review would
like to know why other people insist
upou questioning the correctness of
our knowledge of subjects just be-
cause we can’t find out some things
through experience. What manner
of man must the editor of the Signal
be it all the conclusions which he so
learnedlv serves to tee public come to
him experimentally!
{ Senator Raily called the nation’s
president ‘‘impulsive, self-willed and
rough riding” which in other words
means shallow-brained,tyrannical and
uncouth.
If Jack Frost did not freeze out
all creeping and crawling things Mon-
day night, Professor Connell and the
state entomologist will have to gather
them up and store them in ice
chests tor safe keeping.
Last week a boy in Bonham ran
his bicycle over an old man and se-
verity injured him. The same week
a boy in Commerce ran his delivery-
wagon over a child indicting serious
injuries. Both incidents may have
been msfiiFaocftients. It is possible
the boy in neither case was to
blame but in most . ises of this na-
ture you can’t convin e anyone of
theii innocence except their parents.
Why? Because the people who know
them have seen them engaged in oth-
er cruelties. They have seen them
whipping a horse, or chunking a lost
dog, or tantalizing a child, or bully-
ing a smaller boy. And now when
they have done something the courts
can and should take hold of, their
parents wonder why everybody is so
unkind as to condemn their boy un-
heard. When a cruel, cowardly dis-
position is allowed to develop in a
boy’s nature the Booner he is made
to suffer for such acts the better it is
for his eternal welfare.
The Signal is modeled after the
Bible. This is why so many "won-
derful things’’ are not written herein.
The inspired writers found it well
net to give all the news and the un-
inspired will reach the same con-
clusion after a short experience pub
lishing a country newspaper.—Iloney
Grove Signal.
To “learn well to know what
knowledge need bo known” we have
found by experience to be no small
task ana it sometimes takes more
tact than country editors possess t°
keep ignorant on some things and at
the same time wonderfully wise on
others.
Resolutions of Respect.
Whereas, God in his allwise provi-
dence has seen fit to call from our
midst a worthy and much esteemed
friend, Mrs. Ludu Turbeville.
Be it resolved, 'that we,G o Ladies
of the Eastern Suir ot Cooper Lodge
extend to the bereaved family our
heartfelt sympathy in their great.loss.
She was a gebd wife, a kind and lov-
ing mother, a good friend and neigh-
bor. “To kuow her was to love her.’’
God doeth all things well and oar loss
is tier eternal gain. ' We do not grieve' j
as those who have no hope, for she
was a devoted Christian and, wo do
not doubt, has gone to hi r reward in
heaven. “Blessed are the dead who
di<^ in the Lord.
That a copy be spread on U13 min-

According to the report of the
Civil Service League, those persons
indicted for fraud iu the post office
department did not receive their po-

how they did receive their appoint.
”* ^ent is not stated but a natural in

beginning some fraud was practiced
in order to avade the examinations
since the law provides for no other
entrance save through competitive

Congratulations.
Mr. John H. Cullom, editor of the
Garland. Texas News, has written a
letter of congratulations to the man-
facturers of Chamberlain's Cough
Remedy as follows “sixteen years
ago when our first child was a baby
he was subject to croupy spalls and
we would be very imeasy about him.
Wo began using Chamberlan’s Cough
Remedy in 1887, and finding it such
a reliable remedy for colds and croup,
we have never oeen without it in the
house since that time. We have five
children and have given it to all of
them with good results. One good
feature of this remedy is that it is
uot disagreeable to take and our
babies really like it. Another is that
it is not dangerous, and there is no
risk from giving nn overdose. I con-
gratulate you upon the success of
your remedy. For sale by all drug
gists.
