A Beautiful Wedding.
It was a beautiful home wedding
that united Miss Mary Ida Fisher
and ltev. Robert Eneiey Joiner
Tuesday morning, December 27th,
in the presence of a large number of
relatives and friends. At 10 o’clock
the bridal party entered the prettily
decorated parlor from the hall to the
time of Mendelssohn's wedaing
march, played by Mrs. 0. 0. Taylor.
Rev. Joiner and Mies Fisher were
accompanied Rev. by D. Arthur
Dickey of Deport and Miss Willie
Fieher, sistei of the bride, who
looked charming In a pretty gown of
crepe de chene. The bride looked
exceedingly beautiful m a costume
of brown siiK with real laoe and me-
line trimmings. She carried a show-
er boquet of white hyacinths and
maiden hair ferns. Before the im-
provised alter of ferns the bridal
party halted, where Rev. Chas.
Maulon of Paris in his usual impres
sive manner repeated the ceremony
that made them man and wife.
In the hallway Mrs. John A. Snell
of Pans, assisted by Mists* Roberts
aud Wylie, greeted the guest*.
Mies Fisber was not only one of
Cooper’s most beantlful and accom-
plished young ladies, but one of the
purest of women, possessing all tbe
traits of tbe truly noble womanly
woman. Rev. Joiner as pastor of
tbe Cumberland Presbyterian church
of Cooper endeared himself to the
people of the town by his noble
qualities and real worth.
Alter tbe usual congratulations
tbe bridal party took tbe 10:52 Mid-
land train for Deport, to spend a few
days visiting. Tuey are now at
home iu Ban Antonio, Texas, where
Rev. Joiner is pastor of the Cum-
berland Presbyterian church.
Rev. and Mrs. Joiner were tbe
recipients of many beautiful and
useful presents.

were in attendance: Rev. D. A.
Dickey, Detroit; Mrs, John Snell,
Paris; Miss Nannie Wylie, Paris;
Mrs. J. T. Harris and daughter,

tained Monday, December 26th, in

Sam Fisher, Rev. and Mrs. David

Paris entertained Rev. Robert E.
Joiner and wife of San Antonio with
an elegant luncheon at their home

H. D. Wynn haa been attending
court in Paris the pa9t week in the
case of H. D. Wynn va. Gulf, Color-
ado and Santa Fe railroad. Tbe suit
it for $2600 alledged damage to
Mr. Wynn’s farm by ovetflow caused
by defendants’ road. The case haa
been in court for several years. A
verdict was rendered Tuesday award
ing plaintiff $700 damages. Tbe
damages are alleged to have been
caused by tbe construction of an em-
bankment and damming the Sulphur
to furnish water for a tank, tbe dam
causing plaintiff’s crop to be over,
flowed. There are a number of com
panion suits yet to be tried,

City Coancil Meeting.
The farst regular meeting of the
city council in 19u5 was held at the
city hall Monday night, Mayor D. H.
Lane presiding, with Aldermen Rat-
liff, Albright, Henslee and Morrill,
and Marshal Frank Morris present,
while City Secretary Mike Wilson
kept tbe minutes.
After some minor routine matters
had been disposed of, Mayor Lane
reported that be had bought a lot
upon which to build a tire engine
house from J. F. Henslee, in the
rear of the Thornton hotel and ad
oining Mr. Ilenslee’s ware house,
for $250; the terms being $125 cash
aud a note fore $125 due on or before
Deo. 15, 1905, and bearing 6 per
cent interest per aunum.
Alderman Ratliff reported that the
committee appointed to secure plans
for an engine houae had investigated
the propositions of different persons,
end he presented the plans of Mr
Andrew Ewing for a corrugated iron
building to cost $191, After some
discussion tbe eontract was awarded
to Mr. Ewing at the above price, ard
be is to begin work at once.
The mayor stated that the colored
citisene contemplated erecting a two
story frame building in the northwest
part of town, tbe lower story to be
used for school purposes and tbe
upper story as an Odd Fellows lodge
room, and they desired the city to
help bear the expense to tbe extent
of tbe cost of building the lower
story or school room. It was also
stated that the negroes now have no
school building and are using tbe
colored Baptist church for schooi
purposes. No action was taken on
tbe proposition.
On motion of Alderman Morrill
tbe proposition to allow G. L. Brewer
$50 damages to a lot was withdrawn.
