FAVOR OF NEW INVENTION
It is silent now. A servant of
many years has been diseiinhsl
without thanks. Mo warning wits
given ! The old Itcll has eoased to

An electric hell system litis taken
its place.
The old hell was brought from
ltienlliim when till* college was
moved to Segnin about eighteen
years ago. Many it rope has been
worn out during Hint flute. Often
we wished it “at the bottom of the
Red Sea" when it aroused ns
from oii'i* sweet slumbers. Many it
time wo welcomed, it — when it
forcefully put tin end to the pro-
fessor's mental excursions. Now it
is gone hut not forgotten!
Cow people pass through life
without being called upon at one

public or at least Itefore some or-
ganization. Having fully reallxtsl

students have organlztsl a society
for tin* purpose of anpdring prac-
tice in forensic activities.

would gain some ideas regarding
the choice of material, tin* proper
methods of outlining an address
and would aeipdre practice ami abi-
lity In the presentation and de-
livery of speeches. To do lids the
club will take tip the discussion ami

Reading, Extemporaneous Speak
iug. Impromptu Speaking, Dehat-
ing. Study of Parliamentary Law,

The following rules have been

Memlters must show a willingness
to work, each giving and taking cri-
ticism. Members las-nmc ineligible
if they fall below a C average in
their chisswork. A member fail-
ing in any one subject forfeits Id'

matter was brought to a vote. It
was discussed at length. Present

The program will liegin in the
Assembly room of Weelier Hall.

three Synods. Iowa, Ohio, and Aug-
nstana will speak at this time. Rev-
erend Ifatcrius. President of tin*

Synod will deliver tin* keynote ad-
dress. His topic is to la* “The Prob-
lem- of Higher Christian Eduea-
lion." Reverend Krneh, President
of the Ohio Synod, yvill very prob-
ably represent tl's* Ohio Synod.
Resides these representatives

and special itnm1*ers. Mr. K. Aclix
of Yorktown is to express the senti-
ments of the College I ton id, and
Mayor stnreke will speak, repre-
setiting the city of Segnin. The
Liilhcrnu College t'lioir will inter-
sjierse the program with musical

After this program, Mr. M. Kick*
enroll 1, the arehiteet. will lumd th>*
keys of the new building to Direc-
tor Ixranshaar. who will formally
open I In* girls’ home. A general in*
spec! ion by all those present will
then In* in order.
The «*elchrnlions of the day will
then In* continued by a peppy
basketball game at tin* Rowling
alley. The hoys will play the ♦earn
of St. John's Lutheran Church of
San Antonio. The game promises to
be a banner oldest. The St. John’s
hoys are undefeated ill the city
league of San Antonio. Their team
is composed almost entirely of men
who have had years of e\|a»rienee
in basketball.
Invitations are being sent out lo
nil ex students and pastors of the
Iowa Synod of Texas and to many
other friends of Lutheran College.
This dedication of one of Hie most
modern girls' dormitories in the
struth is to be one of the steps to-
ward the seniority of Lutheran Col-
lege.
The students of Lutheran College
extend thanks to Mr. Stureke, man-
ager of the Palace Theater for the
free pass to the motion philtre.
"Sweetie”, Mr. Stnreke has given
passes also In former years for
which the students are thankful.
