don’t believe it ask any of the foot-

Thursday, January 3. that his pres-
ents were handed out when Coach

This year's sweaters are slijik

• 'apt. Schwar* could not r«s*eive a

fractured leg in the second game of
the season and was tints disabled
for the rest of the games. Tills, of
course, made it Impossible for him
to play Hu* 14 ipmrters which are
retjuired to earn a sweater.

WHY T AWARD?
■»
Why did we again give our ath-
letes *T*’ award swetiters with F.
C. knit Into the "T"V
Tims* yea rs ago Foach I toerffer
realized that it was essential to
give Fill beta n College athletes
award sweaters as all other schools
were doing so and the boys showed
that thby were on the par with
other teams. There was no money
available for that purpose in the
athletic fund so coach Itoertier
himself gave the sweaters to the
boys Surely, tie had a right to put
any letter on those sweaters; so
lie had a black chenelle letter T
put on. Tlu* next year the admin-
istration decided it would be bet-
ter to have the letters F. F. knit
into the T so that it would be more
representative of Lutheran College.
Tills Idea has gone over so big that
the lettermeit. by unanimous vote.
r»s|nested the same lettering this
year. Kveryone. receiving an award,
is obligated to belong to the Luth-
eran College T association.
The letters represent Texas Luth-
eran College, '.lie T showing that
the men made the team, the L. C.
signifying the school.
We could tail F. C. on our sweat-
ers. but wlmt Fntheran College
would that stand for? We could
put I, on. but would that I. be any
more represent alive of Lutheran
College than It would Is* of Llano,
for example, who Ivive black and
gold as their colors?
If we had an official name like
Capital. Wagner. Wart burg, St.
oiaf. ISustaviis Adolphus, etc., we
could give a letter signifying the
name of. the school but we have
110 such name.
The school, the boys and nearly
everybody like our awards; so we
abide by the precedent of giving T
award sweaters with I.. C. knit
lute tile letter.
