City Sales Tax
Brings $11,201
By BILL COOKE
A
The City of Rockdale has received its second return
from the one per cent city sales tax . , . and city officials
are all smiles about it. '
City Manager JN. E. 'Zckei Alford said that the city
treasury received ar net deposit of $11,201.79 last week tor
the city sales tax collections for the first quarter of 1969—
January, February and March.
OffieiSls were all pleased at the amount of the deposit
received from-tho stat.e comptroller's office. The $11,201.79
amount surpassed, surprisingly, the previous deposit of
$9,938.57 which was for the last quarter of 1968 and i i-
cjoded the Christmas shopping ueriort.

The tax went into effect, pet. 1, 1968 and the city’s total

that before the lax was Voted, estimates were that Rockdale

The sales tax revenue goes into the city’s general fund,
Alford explained.
