BIBLE TRUTHS
BY DON PAR TAIN
1120 S. W. 6th SU Cooper. Texas
DO 101 HAVE A QUESTION?
Do you have a question and
desire a Bible answer to it’
1 would like to begin receiving
questions of a religous nature
-•questions dealing with the
subject of salvation, the church
(its organization and work*,
worship. Christian living, etc. I
would then strive to answer with
a “thus saith the Lord •• in
other words, determine to give a
Bible answer to all questions.
According to 2 Tim. 3:16. 1".
the Scriptures completely equip
us in matters of righteousness:
“All Scritpure is inspired by-
God and profitable for teaching,
for reproof, for correction, for
training in righteousness; that
the man of God may be
adequate, equipped for every
good work.” I believe this. I
believe the Scriptures contain
an answer to every question
concerning £i£hteouj>ness ^ God
has not deft us in the dark. AU
we must do Is. first, have a
sincere determination to KNOW
and APPLY the truth (John 7:1 ”
--“If any man is willing to do
His will, he shall know of the
teaching, whether it is of God.
or whether I speak from
Myself."). In other words, we
must LOVE the truth (In 2 Thes.
2:10-12. Paul speaks of those
who “did not receive the love of
the truth so as to be saved. And
for this reason God will send
upon them a deluding influence
so that they might believe the
lie, in order that they all may be
condemned who did not believe
the truth, but took pleasure in
wickedness."). Then, we must
diligently search the Scrip-
tures' see Acts l’:ll> that we
might determine the truths
contained therein.
I am not trying to set myself
up as an infallible judge or
authority": I will simply be
striving to point out what the
scriptures teach on the matters
inquired about. Actually, this is
a responsibility resting on the
shoulders of EVERY Christian;
Peter exhorted, "...sanctify
Christ as Lord in your hearts,
always being ready to make a
defense (give an answer. KJV)
to every one who asks you to
give an account for the hope that
is in you. yet with gentleness
and reverence..." (1 Pet. 3:15;
see also Jude 3 and Phil. 1:16).
Too many people claiming to be
Christians “bristle up” when
you call upon them to defend
their beliefs and practices with
the Scriptures But if we have
the truth on a matter, what do
we fear? In fact, if we have the
truth, being Christ-like, we will
want to share it with tose who
question us (see John 8:32).
Furthermore, if we do not have
the truth, we will WANT to be
made aware of this, so that we
"May turn from darkness to
light..." (Acts 26:18).
So. 1 invite your queries. This
weekly column will be used to
deal with your questions (or
challenges, as the case may be);
in the event there are none, this
space will be used in the usual
manner.
Please address all questions
to the above address. May I
hear from you? adv.
