winter grazing.
Small grains such as rye, oats,

winter and spring. 'Properly
managed, they can be very pro-
vable for winter grazing.

Livestock shou'd be kept off

The small grain plant must be
allowed to make enough top

system if it :s to make satisfac-
tory growth and tonnage. The
plant gets 95 percent of its
growth from the air and the sun,

the air and mix them with min-
erals from the soil and make
plant growth. A plant that is
never allowed to make top
growth will never develop a
good root system.
Small grains planted mainly
for grazing may be top dressed
with nitrog *n now for maximum
grazing. However, if good grain
yields are desired next summer,
the best time for top-dressing
will probably be around the
first of March. 30 to 40 pounds
of nitrogen per acre should give
good results if conditions are
favorable.
Soil Conservation Service tech-
nicians have found that lots of
cropland fields are damaged by
grazing when fields are too wet
or too many stock are allowed
on a field.

Jim Mallett, Area Farm Man-

agent’s office in the assembly
room on January 6 from 1 till
3:00 p.m. to discuss the Farm-
ers’ Income Tax Guide, put out
by the Internal Revenue Serv-

benefits that farmers should
take advantage of.
Farmers and ranchers wanting
extra time to file their final re-
port have until January 15 to
file their 1964 tax estimate. If
this estimate is filed, the final
date for filing Form 1040 is ex-
tended to April 15. However, if
no estimate is filed, February 15
then becomes the deadline for
making the final tax report.
These d“adlines. apply only to
taxpayers who derived two-
thirds or more of their 1964
gross income from farming or
lanching.
Mr. Mallett win also discuss
the Farm Family Account Book.

What Is The Church Of Christ? (No. 10]
In the last issue we continued our discussic
phrases used in the New Testament to portray tl
ture of the church of Christ.
Jesus taught a number of lessons in parabl
which He depicted the church as a “vineyard.”
church is also spoken of as the kingdom (see C«
Review, Dec. 10 issue, this column). In the parat
the sower (Matt. 13:18-23) Jesus explained the sc
as “hearing the word of the kingdom (church)”]
19). The word of the gospel is the seed that is s
(Lk. 3:11). This seed must not be mixed with anc
rupted by the doctrines and commandments of
(Matt. 15:9; Gal 1:6-7). Jesus also compared the cl
or kingdom to a householder hiring laborers intd
vineyard (Matt 20:1-16). In Matt. 21:28-31 He
the lesson about the two sons being asked to go
“in the vineyard.”
In each of these lessons taught by Jesus these
ents are present: (1) A divine call—“Go work;”
hiring of laborers. (2) A relationship—“Son;” a
er who is accountable for his work (3) A time-
day;” at all hours he went out to obtain workers,
tc the last hour. (4) A place—“In my vinevard;]
other place would do God can onlv be glorifie
those who are in His church (Eph 3:21).
God demands that fruit be borne for Him
1:10). Jesus said, “Abide (remain) in me. and I in|
As the bl anch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it

(Jno. 15:4). Fruit cannot be borne apart from

preaching of the gospel (Phil. 4:15-17). Gal. 5:22-2
urns rates some products of the Spirit in a Christl
life. The unfruitful are cursed by God (Tno. 15-
Matt. 21:19; 25:14-30).
Another thing taught concerning laboring inj
Lord’s vineyard is the reward at the end of the
(Matt. 20:8-10). Other passages teach that the re
will be everlasting life in heaven (2 Tim. 4:6-8;
1:3 5, 9- Rev. 2:10), and rest from labors (Rev. 14
Axiomatic is the conclusion• No work, no reward.|
Several years ago two painters were hired to
a rent-house in Houston, Texas. By chance there
house exactly like the one they were to paint nextl
to it. Yes, vou guessed it—they went to the w r|
house. “The landlord didn't say anything about re{
ing” said the tenant, “but if he wants it paintec
fine with me.” So they painted the wrong house,
were sincere, conscientious, and worked hardj
when they w< nt to collect for their labors, thev re
ed no reward! The mar who hired them didn’t paj
cause they didn’t paint his house. The owner of]
house that they did paint didn’t pay because he ha{
authorized the work! Moral Be sure you’re in the
vineyard—the Lord’s vineyard (church)—or no
how hard you work, no matter how honest and sij
you are, there will be no reward
