A Wreck.
There was s wreck on the railroad,
j lust Sunday morning about 1 or 2 oclock,
- ; about a half mile north of ths depot. In
which a caboose and two freight cars
were capsized and the track torn up for
a long distance. One thing strange
about It was tbe caboose left the main
track near tbo Canning factory and took
the side track on tbe west side, and from
appearances followed It to the othei
end, with some of the tracks off tbe
rails. At tbe north end of the side track
the derailed car or ear* took tbe main
♦rack again and bmr.ped along smashing
up the tics and on over tbe bridge and
were dumped off a short distance this
side of Austin’s nursery. There were
in the cahoots the conductor, two cattle
men and a brakeman, all of whom
jumped off, but the latter, wbo was
somewhat bruised but not seriously hurt.
Trains were delayed but a few hours
and the wrecker picked up the cars in
the afternoon, and the work was wit-
nessed by a large crowd from town.
The accident was evidently caused by
some one disconnecting the switch as
the connecting bar was found loosened
and throw n to one side.
