Rites For Accident
Victim Held Friday
Funeral services were held
at the Weimar Baptist church
Friday at 2:30 p. m. for Thomas
Jefferson Hoffman of Schulen-
burg, who lost his life when the
truck he was driving overturn-
ed Wednesday morning.
The Rev. Charles Young of-
ficiated, and burial was in the
Weimar Masonic cemetery.
Mr. Hoffman, 37, was killed
when the large cattle truck he
was driving on a farm road east
of Columbus crashed into a dry
creek bed. The trailer of the
.truck came loose, and came to
rest on top of the cab. Patrol-
man Alton Adcock of Colum-
bus indicated he believed the
driver dozed at the wheel.
His death marked Colorado
county’s first traffic fatality of
1961.
Survivors include his wife
and three step-children of
Schulenburg; parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Hoffman of the
Osage community; six sisters
and two brothers.
