Double Ring Ceremony Read For Miss
MERCEDES — Roy L. Schwarz,
son, of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas F.
Schwarz of Mercedes, took for his I
bride, Miss Virginia Mae Krause ofj
Weslaco, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I
Charles J. Krause of Donna, at an
impressive double ring ceremony held
September 29, 1950, at seven-thirty
o’clock in the evening, in the St.
Joan of Arc Catholic Church in
Wesl'aco. The Rev. Waggoner per-
formed the marriage rites.
Mrs. Henry Griffen of Weslaco,
played the traditional wedding
marches and also accompanied Mrs.
R. L. • Benbow of Mercedes, who
sang "Always”, and Charlie Cardenas
of Weslaco, who sang "Ave Maria.”
A white arch, where wedding vows
were said, was entwined with soft
ferns and small white flowers, with
fl'oor baskets of gladioli and tubero-
ses at each side. A white aisle cloth
led to the chancel railing, and white
satin bows marked family pews.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride woer a gown of whtie lace
over white taffeta. The tigh fitted
bodice was fashioned with a round
neckline, with flat collar, and joined
the full floor-length skirt. Her fin-
gertip veil of illusion was caught to a
Victorian style crown of orange
blossoms. She carried a boquet of
pink roses and white tuberoses, tied
with pink satin ribbons, and a prayer
book. Her -slippers were of white
linen. She wore a strand of pearls
about her neck.
Miss Mary Ann Krause of Donna,
was maid of honor to her sister. She
wore pale blue net over taffeta.
Miss Alice Krause of Donna, also
a sister of the bride, was bridesmaid,
wearing Royal blue and lace.
Woody Tullies of Mercedes, was
best man to the groom. Ushers were
Tommy Schwarz, brother of the
groom, Charlie Krause, Jr., the
bride’s brother; Jack Rainwater of
Mercedes, and Donald McDonald of
Harlingen.
The bride’s mother wore black
crepe, with a red carnation corsage,
and the groom’s mother wore beige
crepe, with a pink carnation cor-
sage.

For her going-away costume, the
bride wore a dark green dress, with
black trim, and matching accessories.
The bride is a graduate of the
Weslaco high School. She is a member
of Nu Phi Mu. She is employed with
the Burton Auto Supply in Weslaco.
The groom is a graduate of the
Mercedes High School. He served two
and one-half years in the Navy, over-
seas.
After a honeymoon trip to Monte-
rrey. and Saltillo. Mexico. The couple
will make their home in Mercedes
at 124 Iowa Street.

MERCEDES — Last Thursday
night at the Edcouch fire hall, more
than forty Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts,
leaders and parents took part in the
Edcouch Roundup for the Boy Scouts
of America.
Entertained Bridge
Club On Thursday
MERCEDES — Mr. and Mrs. Ray-
mond Shotwell entertained their
bridge club Thursday night at their
home.
Mrs. Bill Seibert and Mrs. John
Yelverton scored high and second
high, respectively, in the games of
contract. Refreshments were served
later in the evening.

bert, Mr. and Mrs. Yelverton, Mr.
and Mrs. Curtis Reagan, Mr. and

The bride’s table, laid with a lace
cloth, held the bride’s boquet as a
centerpiece. The five-tiered wedding
cake was mebossed with sugarspun
roses and held a minitaure bride and
groom.
Mrs. Sam Stevens. Donna, - and
Miss Annita Royal, Weslaco, served
the cake, and Mrs. Jack Rainwater,
Mercedes, and and Miss Patricia Da-
vison, Mercedes, tserved the punch.
Others in the house party were
Mrs. Floyd Whitaker, Mrs. J. E.
Walker, Mrs. Oscar Simpson, Mrs. J.
T. Royal, Sr., Mrs. Clark Miller, Mrs.
Irving William, Weslaco; Mrs R.
A. Porter, Mercedes; Mrs. George
Isaaca of Brownsville, and others.
Mrs. Ernest Whitaker, reception
hostess, wore a black dress, with a

per,. Darrell Cummings, Scoutmaster
for Troop No.158, and Ivan A. Moore.
Field Executive for the Mid-Val-
ley District, Boy Scouts of Ameri-
ca, conducted a discussion, during
which it was learned that the Ed-
couch fireme” no longer wished to
sponsor the Boy Scout movement in
Edcouch.
A committee was elected to in-
vestigate the possibility of a new
sponsor, to include Elom Vivian,
chairman, Mrs. Clark Lewis, Mrs.
Mae Johnson and Ed Ernst .
Mrs. Bud Roach was selected as
Den Mother, replacing Mrs.^ John
Beardon. Mrs. Clarence Smith is con-
tinuing as Den Mother.

on the donkey, blindfolded. Games
were played and later, the birthday
cake was cut and served with the
