j squad. The locals had no offi-
cial scorer, the tally being kept
on the electric scoring board.
Another standout for the
Lep youngsters was J. C. Ro-
berts, an “A” guard.
Coach Ansel Isbell reports
that he is not perturbed about
(Thursday night’s performan-
ces and that his “Little Leps”
will do all right this season. He
'says he has 55 fine boys and
that they are all looking good
in practice sessions. This is the
largest squad of aspirants in
many years.
The LL’s play their next
game, after a Holiday rest, on
January 6 when they have
booked a double-header A-B
at Brenham.

La Grange’s Leopards, play-

| tournament, lost two games
land were counted out as San
: Marcos rolled along to win tfve
'tourney cup, while host Lock-
hart took consolation.
In their initial game the
i Leopard cagers, Thursday
j night dropped a 51-36 decision
.to the Lockhart Lions.
The Lions moved ahead in
] the first period, 14 to 9, and at
halftime held a four point lead
of 22-18. By the close of the
third quarter, the winners
held a margin of 37-28 and
outscored the Leps 14-8 in the
final canto.
Lamb, Lockhart forward,
emerged as HPM of the fracas,
with 17 points and his mate,
Robinson, also a forward,
meshed 15 for runner-up laur-
els, while J. W. Miers, Lion
forward, contributed 13 to add
to the winners’ total.
For La Grange. Jackie
Schwake, tall Lep center, was
tops in the tally department
with a total of 11 points. Other
local scoring was as follows:
Charles Vas'd 5, Orsak 7,
Butch Blume 8, and Selensky
5.
In the free toss department,
La Grange made good 12 of 24
attempts and Lockhart meshed
7 of 20.
La Grange’s Leps bowed out
of the tourney Saturday morn-
ing by losing to Gonzales 65-
40.

ed the Lep efforts, meshing 15

Orsak added 7 each; Butch

Garden Club Has
Christmas Party
The La Grange Garden club
Christmas paHy was held
Thursday afternoon in the
beautifully decorated home of
Miss Gertrude Lueders, where
i Christmas decorations, poin-
isettias and chrysanthemums
were used very effectively.
In the absence of the presi-
dent, Mrs. W. C. Hunter, who
is convalescing from a recent
operation, the vice-president,
Miss Anna Klatt, presided.
Sixteen members answered
roll call with verses of scrip-
ture pertaining to Christmas.
Guests were Miss Alma Lued-
ers of San Marcos, Mrs. Robert
Browne and Mrs. L. A. Due-
wall.
Mrs. J. J. Hart led the pro-
gram of Christmas reading and
songs. Mrs. Browne read
“Let’s Keep Christmas" and
Mrs. Duewall read “Littlest
Stork.”
Exchange of gifts was fol-
lowed by refreshments of
sandwiches, cookies, candies,
nuts, tea and coffee, which
were served by the hostess
and co-hostess, Mis. Flvira
Saxon, assisted by Miss Alma
Lueders.
