Mrs. Cullar received a B.A. de-
gree in art from H-SU in.
December 1970. She is to com-
plete a master of fine arts de-
gree in August 1971 at the
Institute Allende.
From September 1967 to Ap-
ril 1968 she acted as scholar-
ship assistant to the weaving in-
structor at the Insitutio and
during the summer 1970 assist-
ed the macrame instructor. She
has been awarded a full scholar-
ship to return to the Insittuton
to complete her degree.
Cullar commented "I firmly
believe it is necessary for a per-
son in fine arts to produce or he
loses a valuable part of himself
personal experience."
About his work Cullar said
"Color is what I enjoy using. I
know I often use too much but
my paintings reflect the greatest-
intensity of the color. To put my
painting in a defined area list
them as abstract expressionist."
Mrs. Cullar works in many
media in the crafts field. Her
thesis and assistantship work
were in macrame while her
other work includes weavings
on the two and four harness
looms some of which are three-
dimensional sculptural form.
She also does batiks on many
textiles such as hard woven
Mexican cotton imported vel-
vet and more contemporary fab-
rics for garments and wall hang-
ings. Many of Mrs. Cullar's weav-
ings incorporate tree branches
because she enjoys combining
the textures of wood and hard
spun wool.
She also does ceramics and
some jewelry and aid she is
"hard pressed to find time for all
of these interests. The Cullars
have a 14 month old daughter
Thedra.
Cullar added "Carol and I-do
