‘The City Council is not
made up of a group of experts.
They are a group of average
citizens who receive small com-
pensation but have enough in-
terest and pride in their little
city to take time off to adminis-
ter the affairs of that city. We
know there are possibly many
more who are better qualified
but they are not willing to take
the unjust criticism that is
usually given.
“When it was brought to the
attention of the Council that
the Alexander oak was danger-
ous they asked the advice of a
man who has made trees his
life’s work. It was his opinion,
and he so reported to the Coun-
cil which met in special session,
that the tree should be remov-

Kana-Cernosek Rites
Performed Saturday
Miss Georgia Kana of La
Grange became the bride of
Edwin Cernosek of Houston, in
a double ring ceremohy per-
formed at the Holy Rosary
Catholic church at Hostyn by
Rev. Francis Smerke at 9 o’-
clock Saturday morning.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. George E. Kana
of La Grange, and the groom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Cernosek, also of La Grange.
The traditional wedding mu-
sic was provided by the Hostyn
Church choir with Mrs. Pete
Rainosek as organist.
Arrangements of white glad-
ioli and stock were used as
(51-tfc)
was accepted.
“You stated that the con-
demnation was hasty and un-
just and this was plainly ap-
parent when your destructive
work was completed. Mr. El-
wood, the tree man, showed a
group of citizens, when the tree
was felled, that all the roots
under the center section of the
tree were rotted and decayed.
He also showed where the out-
side roots were beginning to
deteriorate.
“The City Council has a duty
to discharge to its citizens and
whichever way they decide
they know that their decisions
won’t please everyone. So far
we have been fortunate that
the limbs and trees that have
fallen have only damaged cars
and property and has only re-
sulted in one damage suit. We
know that the removal of this
tree has eliminated a chance of
life and property being des-
troyed in a particularly busy
section of town.
“I don't believe there is any-
one in La Grange whom I think
more of than your aunts. They
were my neighbors and my
children played on their lawn
and talked them out of cookies.
I can see their view point and
I heartily sympathize with

The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore, an exquis-

Chantilly lace and tulle over
satin. It was created with a
round scalloped neckline of
lace over satirt and embroider-
ed in bridal sequins each cen-
tered with a seed pearl. The
long torso bodice was fastened
with small satin covered but-
tons down the back and had
traditional long sleeves coining
to points over the hands and
fastened with six small cover-
ed buttons at the wrist. The
floor length skirt featured in
front three lace panels alter-
nated with two panels of tulle
ruffles coming down to the
floor from the torso. The back
was one panel of tulle ruffles.
She wore a single strand of
pearls and small pearl earrings,
gifts of her parents. Her veil
was of tulle and illusion held
in place by a bridal crown
jeweled with tiny bridal pearls.
She carried a bouquet of white
carnations, lily of the valley
and a purple orchid centered
among white ribbon and ac-
cented with green satin leaves.
She also carried a prayer book
and rosary, gifts of the groom.

ana friends.
The bride’s table was cover-
ed with an imported Irish lin-
en cloth and centered with the
wedding cake. The cake was a
four-tiered confection with the
base in a scalloped design made
of three round cakes. The other
tiers were round and a bridal
bouquet was set in the open
tier. The base scallops were
decorated with lavender sugar-
ed roses, green leaves and
white crystal sugared wedding
bells. The bells were tied with
white ribbon and clusters of
lily of the valley. The cake was
