Service Book, Hymnal
Workshop Set June 5
An area workshop on the
new Service Book and Hymnal
of National Lutheran Council
churches, (United Lutheran
Church of America, Ameri-
can Lutheran Church, Augus-
tana Lutheran Church, Evan-
gelical Lutheran Church and
United Evangelical Lutheran
Church) will lie held at St.'
John Lutheran church, War-
renton, oh Thursday, June 5,
at 7:45 p. m.
With the help of tape record-
ings and under leadership of
an especially trained commit-
tee, those attending will hear
how the liturgical settings are
to be sung. The meeting will
be very informal. Since all por-
tions of the liturgy are to be
sung, not in parts but in uni-
son, it will be easier for many
area Lutherans to join in on
the practice periods. Even
though local churches may not
introduce the new Service
Book and Hymnal immediately,
it will nevertheless be of in-
terest to become acquainted
with it. Anyone interested in
observing and learning, is in-
vited to attend.
Rev. Theo. Sager of Burton,
Mrs. Theo. R. Streng of Bren-
ham, Mrs. Emmet Hannes of
Giddings and Mrs. W. A. Jas-
ter of La Grange are the group
who will be in charge of the
workshop Several others from
this area who attended the
state-wide workshop at Luth-
erhill recently, will attend also
and participate.

Dr. Stockton stressed the
point that his department’s sur-
vey would not act as a “magnet
to draw industries to your
communities,” adding that the
statistics would have to be used
for their values to be realized.
He said each community must
decide for itself what kind of
industry is best suited to its
location and its advantages,
and aim its promotion to them.
Copies of the two surveys
will be distributed to Cham-
bers of Commerce in the area
involved, Dr. Stockton report-
ed.
The session was called by
Sen. Culp Krueger, seminar
chairman, to inform business,
professional, banking and man-
ufacturing people in the CRI-
DA area what their communi-
