PIONEERS OF PROGRESS
Tl^ere was a time in the early pioneer days of this state when the
services of a bank were used only for occasional important trans-
actions.
Since then, the ever-increasing demands of modem business have
made the various functions of the bank a 'necessary part of every-
day life.

A BIT OF ADVICE
First—Don’t Delay. Second—-Don’t
Experiment.
If you suffer from backache; head-
aches or dizzy spells; if you rest poor-
ly and are languid in the morning; if
the kidney secretions are irregular and
unnatural in appearance, do not delay
In such cases the kidneys often need
help.
Doan’s Pills are especially
prepared for'kidney trouble—they fare
recommended by thousands. Can resi-
dents desire more convincing proof
than the statement of a citizen of this
locality?
Mrs. Gus Grimm, 916 Staples St.,
Corpus Christi. Texas, says; “*I was
troubled with a terrible backache and
a dull, heavy pain across my kidneys.
I bad dizzy spells when black specks
appeared before my eyes. My kidneys
were irregular in action end there were
other distressing symptoms of kidney
disorder. Two boxes of Doans
Pills cured me. My back is strong
now and my kidneys are regular in
action.”

THIS SIGN IS CERTAIN
SOME OF '-THE OLD SETTLERS have a habit of looking at the
bark of trees or the fur of animals and then forecasting the weather
They say it is going to he a mild winter or a severe winter accord-
ing to these signs.
We know of one sign that never fails. If you see a man who has
a good job, plenty of coal in his coal bins and a nice bank account
—for that man at least it will be a MILD winter.
Thrift always frays big rewards.
Yve do not know of a better plan for those who want to assure them-
selves a mild winter every year than to adoot -the three rules of
thrift;
Earn—spend carefully—and save.
