day as guests of the local gun club.
Of the guests present, two were na-
tional celebrities. Captain Marshall,
general maty for the TJ, M. C. people

ng traveled around the globe a num-
ber Pf times, .and Teen in charge of.
some of the greatest shooting . con-
tests ip history, notably as captain of
the ,all American team that visited
Sure 1)0 and the British Isles a num-
ber .of years- ago. winnihg all honors
with the gun, the captain twice break-
ing the world shooting record. The
other celebrity was -Pitcher Jack,
Coombs, the “maft of iron” of the
pitching staff of the Philadelphia
-Ail Champion Athletics, spending his
winter vacation here. The other
guests ■were Messrs. Turney Hubby,-j
state representative for IJ. M. C..

Pearlstone, H. V. Hamilton, and Fred’

The home was cherry,,, and Mr.
Pearlstone did the honors gracefully.
After a season of good Fellowship the
guests were • invited into the dining
room. The table, was beautiful in
glass and silverware and linen, with
a centerpiece. a large cut glass vase
of red carnations, A buttonaire and
place card directed the guests to their
seats, and a feast of good things and
a flow of wit was soon in progress.
The dinner was in sixyiourses, and
elegantly served. The menu consist- 1

and a rich number of stories by

most of them gleaned from his per-
sonal experiences. Also Mr. Hubby
and the host and others, contributed

pers vthat Jeff Strickland, one of the
old Omen boys, has announced for
county attorney of Anderson county.
Jeff has got the right kind of metal
in him, and his old schoolmates
throughout Texas will be glad to hear
of his preferment when the .primaries
have rolled around. This writer knew
Strickland when the matter of books
and clothing and tuition gnd possibly
bread and meat was a great big prob-
lem to him
