WHAT IS THRIFT?
The true definition of Thrift is to spend a little less
than you earn; to five simply, work diligently, spend
judiciously; save consistently.
Thrift is merely common-sense applied to spending.
It deprives no one of rightful pleasure or comfort,
but is rather the answer to all things worth while.

Who says we don’t read the paper?
Mrs. H. M. Howard missed two issues
of the Progress while in Wichita Falls
as delegate to the Rebecca Lodge Con-
vention. She came in this week to get
both copies and was very much upset
over the fact that Mr. Howard had
not kept the Progress until her return
Mr. Howard’s alibi was that she al-
ready knew the news and therefore
would not be interested in reading it
again in the Progress. To which
Mrs. Howard answered. “I may know
all the news, but that doesn’t keep
me from wanting to read it in print
in the Progress.

Bobbed hair to tlie right of us,
Bobbed hair to the left of us,
Bobbed lxair behind us,
Tresses a - sundered.
Some with a heavy crop
Some with a lighter mop.
Into the barber shop
Walked the bobbed hundred.
Women of high degree
Women past fifty-three
Determined that they should be
One of the numbered.
Women of every class
Mother and little lass
Flappers—all joined the mass
Of the bobed hundred.
Some with bangs, some without
Some shingled roundabout,
Some in curls, some in doubt,
Fear they have blundered.
Some of them look real swell
Some of them look like—01\, well
Just as well not tell
On the bobbed hundred.

The Joys of Thrift are Abiding
True Thrift brings happiness and prosperity to its possessor,
It opens the door to endless opportunities and makes possible
the realization of many worthy ambitions.
Thrift does not call for superior wisdom or foresight or knowl-
edge, but simply for a common-sense program of living.
We urge every man, woman and child, who has not already
done so, to open a Thrift Account at the bank. We solicit
yours here.

PERPLEXING
Life for most men resolves itself in-
to one; great problem these days. How
to make a living and at the same time
keep the family car running.
Deacon Bert Walker: “He is this
kind of a fellow,” a citizen said of
another citizen the other day: “He
put his cow in to the assessor at
thirty dollars. When the cow was
killed by a truck he sued the owner
of the truck for one hundred and fifty
bucks and he collected half of that
amount, too.”
By laughing at two bandits a
plucky Boston girl saved an $1,800
payroll. When a revolver tickles your
ribs it’s quite proper to laugh.
At least one day is spoiled for the
man who discovers that his last
spring’s suit can not be made to do
for another summer.

CAR REPAIR SERVICE
Have you ever noticed, when men
are talking “cars” how some of them
are rather shy about mentioning the
name of the machine they own? It
isn’t because they did not take the
precaution of ocarefully comparing"
values before they bought , that their
car fell sadly short of their expectA-
tious, and the advertised claims made
for it by the dealer. Instead, it can
be traced to the adjustment and re-
pai rservice that the car has had.
Don’t refuse to give yourself a
square deal. Handle your car repair
service as you would one of your
toughest business problems. That’s
business. See that you get the best
quality at the lowest price.
I give an un-eonditional guarantee
on al elrpair service from the minor
adjustments to the rebuilding jobs, on
all cars alike.
Seing is believing.
