Coach Nutt has succeeded ' iri
signing two top prospects for
next season's freshmen squad.
Thoy are Jerry Morgan and Jerry'
Burk.
MORGAN IS an honorable
mention AU-Statc center from
Lubbock Monterey. He is 6-6
weighs 175-pounds. Morgan made
the class 4 A State Tournament
All-Star second team this ycar.
In the regional contest against"
Odessa he scored 25 points.
Burk s a second team All-State
basketballcr from Roby. He is
also two time state high jump
champion class B. The 0-5 175-
pound er averaged 20 points per
game in the 1001-62 sason. He
was an all-district selection for
four seasons and this year he
was chosen for the all-area team.
Burk whose personal high jump
record is G-4'4 will participate
in both basketball and track at
ACC.
TWO MORE athletes have also
signed to play football at ACC
next fall.
Everett Kelly from state-
finalist Quanah Is a second team
All-State 180-pound back and
end. Hc .was also an all-district
and all-area selection. Kelly
stands 5-11.
Biology Dept.
Presents
Study Program
The Abilene Christian biology
department recently presented
an hour and a half study program
for 35 Abilene grade school stu-
dents. The program Included a film
a look at several biology displays
and an explanation of the parts
of a skeleton by use of a rubber
mannequin. Afterwards there
was a question and answer per-
iod. "The children were very en-
thusiastic about all that they
were shown" said Roy E. Shake.

workshop at Freed-Hardeman
College Henderson Tenn. April
11-13.
Thursday April 12 Dale Castle-
man will speak on "Missionary
Methods'' and "Group Prepara-
tion for Special Mission Areas."
Also on Thursday Phil Elkins
will speak on "Missionary Meth-
ods" and "Opportunities in the
Near East nnd India."
Dr. J. W. Treat will make a
special address and Billy Nicks
will speak on "Getting Ready to
Go to a Foreign Field" Friday.

Borrowed Butterfly
Illustrates Spring
The Abilene Reporter-Nows re-
cently borrowed a giant yellow
and black swallow-tail butterfly
from the Abilene Christian bio-
logy department to aid in herald-
ing the return of spring.
The butterfly was one brought
from Illinois in 19S3 by Roy
Shake ACC biology Instructor.
The picture of the butterfly
appeared in the Sunday edition
of lho newspaper illustrating an
article about spring.

Held April 15-19
An open-house for the new
freshman chemistry laboratory is
planned by the Abilene Christian
c.-.emistry department during
Lectureship Week April 15-10.
The laboratory localed in room
52 of t) c Science Building was
previously a storage room and a
lecture rcom used by the psychol-
ogy and education departments.
It is capable of handling 442 stu-
dents weekly.

Immediately following the
council meeting at 4 p.m. the
35-membor Gifts and Bequests
Executive Committee will meet
to review major gifts and be-
quests to the College since June
1 1001.
Hie gifjs will be reported in
confidence to this committee but
will be announced to the pub-
lic later in the week.
The Board of Trustees will
meet at 0 a.m. Monday April 10
to consider the long-range plan-
ning recommendations made by
the Master Planning Council. The
Board will also make public the
receipt of a number of substant-
ial gifts and bequests to the col-
lege. Meeting with the trusteee will
be 100 members of the advisory
board and approximately 75
guests.
James Culp Serves
On Exam Board

Abilene Christian English depart-
ment will serve on a committee
which will examine Austin Col-
lege for certification of its teach-
er training program.
