By BUSS WILLIAMS

The Abilene Christian basketball track and football
squads in calendar year 1963 have set a combined total of
18 school records and have tied five.
It's been a pretty good year.
Cagen Break Nine. Tie Four

last season by smashing seven
records. They arc as follows:
1. Single season scoring aver-
age of 25.4 points per game.
2. Single game scoring record
of 45 vs. West Texas State. (Old
record 43 set by Robert McLcod
vs. Eastern New Mexico 1959.)

0. Most field goals scored in a
season at 238. (Old record 192 set
by Pat Agnew 1961-62).
7. Best single season field goal
percentage of .507. (Old record
.494 set by Mike Allen 1960-01).
Freshman Charles Cleek had a
higher percentage .519 but saw
full-time duty only about half
the season.
Reynolds also tied two records
most field goals scored in one
gome which is 18 set by Robert
McLcod vs. Eastern New Mexico
in 1959 and most field goals at-
tempted In one game which is
28 set by Agnew vs. Howard
Payne in 1962. Reynolds sank 18
against West Texas and attempt-
ed 28 vs. Trinity Eastern New
Mexico and West Texas.
Team records set were these:
1. Best field goal percentage of
.458. (Old record set by 1958-59
team at .444).
2. Highest scoring average by
opponents of 77.7. (Old record set
at 70.0 ogalnst 1953-54 team).
Two records tied by the Wild-
cat team were total points scored
in a single game in the 113-tfO
victory over Dallas and best free
throw percentages of .711 which
was set by the 1059-60 team.
In 1957 the Wildcats defeated
Trinity 113-80 and in 1960 they
bested McMurry 113-67.
Cindermen Break Six. Tie One
Four of the all-time track and
field records were in field events.
Billy Pemelton of Mercedes a
senior this year cleared 15-3 In
the pole vault bettering the old
record of 14-6 set by Leroy Cul-
ver in 1960.
Jerry Dyes Olympic hopeful
from Shreveport La. bested his
own 250-5 mark In the javelin
with a 254-0.
Weightman Roger Orrell a
junior from Ormond Beach Fla.
upped his discus record from
157-11 last season to 165-11
and put the shot 55-2V to erase
the 54-4 set by Rayford Mcllha-

third was Prissy Beauchamp and
Linda Groves.
The tie for first place in volley-
ball between Kappa Chi WRA
and Gata will soon be broken.
The teams have 9 wins and 2
losses each. The play-off is sched-
uled for Thursday night Dec. 13.
18 Records
Fall in 1963
freshman last year to hold an all-
time Abilene Christian track rec-
ord as he lowered the 880-yard
run mark to 1:50.5.
Simon Vemon a Gladewater
senior set a school mark of 38.0
in the 330-yard hurdles.
Sprinter Dennis Richardson a
Nocona graduate streaked the
100-yard distance in 9.3 to equal
the school mark of 9.3 set by
Bobby Morrow in 1957 then the
world's record which was tied
by Bill Woodhouse in 1959.
Hagaman Sets Three Grid Marks
Dennis Hagaman the soph
from Pueblo Colo. etched his
name on the football record book'
with a 98 yard run from scrim-
mage against Arlington State this
past season.
This was but one of the records
the diminutive speed merchant
established. His two others were
the longest kickoff return of 03
yards against North Texas State
and the longest scoring play
which was his 98 yard scamper
against Arlington.
A few team defense records
were probably established but
there are no past records.
Actually the team set an un-
official record for pass intercep-
tions with 24 for nine games. The
1950 team had 27 for 11 games.

looking beautiful. Held its weight down in the 3000-

you've got the right idea.
