for the "Go Texan
Program"
promoting Texas
Ag products.
April was fruit
and vegetable
month and Prayze
submitted a
creative coloring
page displaying
the seeds and
packets of what
fruits and
vegetables he ate
for the month.
After winning the
local and district
contest, Prayze's project was submitted to Austin for state judging.
Prayze was 1 of 3 winners out of 66 counties for this area in Texas.
Prayze and his family will be traveling to the State Fair to present
his project. Prayze is the son of Corey and Donette Pierce and
attends Kindergarten at Archer City Elementary.

Windthorst marches to region
HOLLIDA Y BAND FUND RA TSER
The Holliday High School Band had its annual car
wash at Auto Zone as a fundraiser. The Holliday Band
is planning on a trip in the spring next school year.
Holliday High School Band were the Bronze Medalist at
the State Marching Competition at the Alamo Dome.
The Winter Guard were the Gold Medal winners at the
NTCA Championships this winter. The band has
received UIL Sweepstakes for 22 consecutive years.

Luke Gary McCorkle arrived
on April 21, 2010 at 11:42p.m.
in Pomona, CA. He weighed 7
lbs 2 oz and was 18 1/2 inches
long.
His parents are Ben and Alyssa
McCorkle of Santa Ana, CA.

The Windthorst Trojans
eliminated the Meridian
Yellowjackets 14-4 with an
impressive performance in the
second game of the Region II-A
semifinals last Saturday in
Weatherford.
For the second game in a row,
Windthorst jumped to a 6-0 lead
after scoring 2 runs in each of
the first three innings. Trojan
pitcher Colin Schrieber allowed
some early hits from the
Yellowjackets, but finished with
a strong performance. Cohn also
was instrumental at the plate with
three RBIs.
Chase Schrieber had two hits
and drove home two. Nine
different Windthorst players had
hits in the game, and the last one
was a RBI single delivered by
pinch-hitter Tryce Berend.
Windthorst (32-5-1) will face
Blue Ridge (28-5) in the regional
final, this time with a trip to
Austin on the line for the state
championship games. The first
game will be held at 5:00 p.m.
Friday at Grapevine High
School. The second game will
be played Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
also at Grapevine High School.
Should a third game be
necessary, it will be played 30
minutes following Game 2.

AG SAFETY DAY
Windthorst FFA sponsored a Progressive Ag Safety Day on Friday, May 21,2010.
Windthorst Elementary students in grades 4 and 5 enjoyed the day learning about
different ag safety topics. They learned about ATV, PTO, Sun, Lawnmower, Grain,
First Aid/911, Animal and Hand Tool Safety. Each student was given a safety goodie
bag at the end of the program. Windthorst FFA would like to thank all the volunteers

Matthew Robert Wolf was the re-
cipient of the fourth annual Wolf In-
surance Agency Scholarship awarded
on April 18, 2010 at the Germania
Farm Mutual Insurance Local Chap-
ter #143 meeting in Windthorst. Mat-
thew will receive $250 to assist with
his college expenses next fall. Mat-
thew is a 2010 graduate of
Windthorst High School and plans to
attend Tarleton State University in
Stephenville, Texas. He is the son of
Frank and Joyce Wolf of Scotland.
