Windthorst took care of Petrolia
6-0 last Thursday to win a Region I-
A softball title. The win moved the
Trojanettes, 17-3, into the State
at UT-Austin today. They were to
open the tournament at 8:30 a.m.
against McLeod (25-7).
Amber Wolf recorded her 15 th
hit, 1 walk, and 1 hit batter, and
striking out 6. Meanwhile her team-
mates played errorless ball and
pounded out 16 hits.

4-H Trapshooters take top
honors at District Shoot

Archer County Extension Agents
The Northwest Field and Stream
hosted the District 3 4-H Shooting
Sports Competition on May 15th at
the Iowa Park Gun Club. Forty-six
Archer County 4-H shooters partici-
pated in the competition with over
138 shooters representing the 25-
county 4-H Rolling Plains District.
Archer County 4-H results are listed
below:
High Sub-Junior in the 9-12 age
group was Zac Ahlhom shooting 40
out of 50 targets.
High Senior in the over age 15 age
group was Matt Berry of Archer City.
In the 2 man sub-junior division
(ages 9-12) 1 st place was Zac Ahlhom
and Colton Carnes with a team total
of 75 out of 100 targets. Second-place
tie Bradon Stovall and Ty Campbell,
and Eric Searcey and Boone Stuteville
with a team score of 67. Fourth place
team Taylor Lane and Daniel Easter
scored 61. T enth place, T anner Gordy
and Jared Baker with a team score of
42.

sion, 9-12 age group: 1st place Ethan
George, Stephen Riley, and Cooper
Twy ford with a team score of 97; 2nd
place Mitchell Moeller, Curry Kunkel
and Bryan Moore from Foard County

Lonesome Dove Festival to
feature classic car show
The Lonesome Dove "Blast From
The Past" Classic Car and Truck Show
and Cruise will be coming to Archer
City for the second year in a row, but
for the first time under the new Lone-
some Dove Summer Social to be held
in Archer City on June 19th.
Thirty vehicles were registered last
year but organizers are expecting more
than 60 this year. Pre registration is
$15 per vehicle or $20 entry on the
day of show. The cruise is an addi-
tional $5 fee and all entries are eli-
gible for trophies for Best of Show,
People's Choice and Cruise Favorite.
In addition, any vehicle riding in
the rodeo parade at 5:00 pm on the
19th will be eligible for parade awards
also. Goody bags and dash plaques
are available for entries also.
There are twelve classes to enter.
Plaques will also be awarded to first
and second place in each class. The
Cruise will run from 3:30-4:30 from
the Sonic to the Dairy Queen. The
Rodeo Parade will be at 5:00 pm.

May 24, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Those present:

ORDER TRANSFERRING LINE ITEM IN PRECINCT 4 BUDGET - The motion was made by Danyl
Lightfoot and seconded by Darin Wolf to transfer $1,050.00 out of line item equipment repair into purchase
equipment Precinct 4. Voting yes 1-2-3-4.
ORDER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS - The motion was made by Darryl Lightfoot and seconded by Ben Buerger
to advertise for bids on the sale of Case International M#l-585 mower tractor with mower for Monday, June 14,
2004 at 10:00 a.m. Voting yes 1-2-3-4.
Court discussed canine unit. No action taken.
ORDER TO TRANSFER FROM RECOVERY FUND TO COURTHOUSE RESTORATION FUND - The
motion was made by Darin Wolf and seconded by Ben Buerger to transfer $102,000.00 from recovery fund to
courthouse restoration fund. Voting yes, 1-2-3-4.
ORDER APPROVING SUPPLY BILLS - The motion was made by Ben Buerger and seconded by Darin Wolf
to approve supply bills. Voting yes, 1-2-3-4.
ORDER APPROVING EXPENSE ACCOUNTS - The motion was made by Darryl Lightfoot and seconded by
Ben Buerger approving expense accounts in the following amount, $393.51. Voting yes, 1-2-3-4.
Joe Chunn with Holliday Police Department and Mike Cavitt Archer City Fire Marshal met with Court to discuss
the Interlocal Agreement with City of Holliday.
ORDER TO APPROVE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT - The motion was made by Darryl Lightfoot and
seconded by Ben Buerger to approve Interlocal agreement with City of Holliday. Voting yes, 1-2-3-4.
Deerinwater graduates
with parachute jumps
Micah Deerinwater graduated from
The United States Basic Airborne
Course Tuesday, June 1st. Micah is
the son of Roger and Carol
Deerinwater of Archer City and is a
2000 graduate of Archer City High
School.
Micah joined the United States
Army in January. He completed Ba-
sic Training and Advanced Individual
Training for Infantrymen at Ft
Benning, Georgia last month before
completing Airborne School.
During Basic Training and Ad-
vanced Individual Training,
Deerinwater was trained on various
weapon systems, mines, land naviga-
tion and first aid among other tasks
required of US Army Infantrymen.
During the Airborne Course, he was
trained to parachute from US Air Force
aircraft. He learned proper exiting
techniques, actions to assist with
manuevering the parachute and how
to land properly. The culmination of
the 3 weeks of Airborne training was
5 parachute jumps. Micah was joined
by James Pippin on his 5th jump.
James is a 1983 graduate of ACHS
and a 1986 graduate of the Airborne

Course. He is stationed at Ft Benning,
Georgia.
Deerinwater's next assignment is
with the 75th Ranger Regiment at Ft
Benning, Georgia. Micah will go
through the Ranger Indoctrination
Program, a 4 week course that is very
physically and mentally demanding.

update on Archer County's newest
soldier serving the United States of
America.

Fighters Open
House
The Bowman Community Volun-
teer Fire Fighters will hold an Open
House on Saturday, June 12, 2004
from 3 to 5 p.m. The Fire Station is
located at 15974 FM 1954.
This is a great opportunity to meet
the firefighters and see what dona-
tions along with grants helped the
Fire Department achieve this last
year.
These men and women put their
lives on the line for us each time they
respond to a call! They fight what
we all fear.
A Community Meeting will follow
the open house at 5 p.m. Discussion
will include Fire School; Home
Safety Checks; Fire Calls; New
Equipment; Fund Raisers; Grants;
New Firefighters; Volunteers; Ques-
tions & Answers.

City and Bobbie Benson of
Bellview, Texas, has been
named a finalist in the Miss
Junior Teen of Texas contest,
to be held in Houston June 25-
28.
The National American Miss
pageants, of which the Miss
Junior Teen is a part of, are
dedicated to celebrating
America's greatness and en-
couraging its future leaders.
Each year, the pageant awards
thousands in cash, scholarships
and prizes to recognize and
assist the development of
young women nationwide. For

Archer City High School in
August. Anyone who would
like to contribute to Cara's trip to
Houston, may do so at the Archer

ment and festivities at the Lonesome
Dove Summer Social, don't forget the
Turtle Races!
Registration for the Turtle Races
will be held in front of City Hall from
12:00-1:00 pm and there will be an
entry fee of $2 for each turtle.
There will be two divisions for land
and water turtles and cash and/or other
prizes will be awarded for first and
second place in each division.
Races will be held at 2:00 pm at the
comer of Sycamore and Walnut streets
just next to City Hall.

MEMORIAL DA Y. 2004
Members of the American Legion saluted their comrades who
lost their lives in American wars on Memorial Day at the
Archer City Cemetery. The Ladies Auxiliary placed a wreath at
the cemetery, following the placement of a wreath at the Archer
County War Memorial, downtown on the Courthouse Square.

Archer City has declared a Stage 2 Water Restriction.
Stage 2 is a voluntary reduction of water usage.
If a 20 - 25% reduction is not met, the City will move into a
Stage 3 Water Restriction.
Stage 3 is a mandatory restriction of water usage.
