Cottolene
It isn’t the quantity of food you eat, but
that portion of it that digests that brings health
and strength.
Lard-soaked food never has been, never can
be digestible and nourishing, because of the hog
fat it contains.
Cottolene is far more healthful than lard
because Cottolene is a vegetable product, makes
food rich witliout being greasy, and can easily
be digested by the stomach of a child.
They say the way to a man’s heart is
through his stomach. People who have used
and are using Cottolene for all shortening and
frying purposes say that the way to health is
through theuse of Cottolene.
Cottolene is the most economical shorten-
ing, because it goes one-third farther than
butter or lard.

The Mystery Of The Awakenini
May Send Troops
‘‘Behold, 1 show you :i mystery.’’—Sf. Paul.
Nature is as yet held in the clasp and grasp of winter. The
leaves are sere and fallen; the limbs of tile trees are bare and stand
silhouetted against the sky; the grass is no longer green; the roso
bushes are stripped of their foliage, they have neither bui nor
bloom; the volate, modest yet brave, has not as yet dare lo defy the
cold, but, shrinking from the nipping frosts, puts not forth its pur-
ple petals and exhales no perfume upon the air. The trees and i
flowers and roses have received no message from that mystic realm
whence there wi 1 later come to them Natures unspoken but resist- j
less behest to come forth in newborn beauty to greet the crowned
and soeptered queen of spring.
They will sleep on until, from some far-off sphere which science
hath not located or bounded, and from which to human ears there
comes no sound, they will hear a call, which, piercing the sod and
soil that enwraps them, will put in motion all Nature’s powers, long
tenumbed hy the winter’s cold, and, trusting to Nature’s summons
for their safety, will come forth from their winter’s sleep and give
to the cold, somber, saddened world a touch of vernal beauty,
The tree which now stands leafless and bare will then lie robed
in garments of vivid green, richer and rarer than ever yet the most
skillful aitificer has Woven in oriental loom; the flowers, touched by
Nature’s magic wand, will draw through their fragile roois, from
the inexhaustible laboratory of Mother Earth, the element therein
stored, which, coursing through the invisible arteries in their frail
stems, will lie trammed by the wonderful alchemy of Nsturo into
rare and varied hues and tints ami shades of color, and
