warm smiles to offer Senator
Edward Muskie of Maine Demo-
cratic Vice president hopeful
was received with vigor at Rad-
ford Auditorium McMurry Col-
lege. In a jam-packed Radford Au-
ditorium Senator Ralph Yar-
borough of Texas and Omar
Burleson Abilene 's representa-
tive in the House gave the pref-
ace before the character Edward
Muskie unravelled himself.
Muskie told the congenial
crowd that dissent and protest
were not new In America. He
pointed to the historic) truths
of dissent leading to Uie Ameri-
can Revolution dissent dividing
the Constitutional Convention
and dissent framing other Ameri-
can institutions.
But he noted that after each
protest there was a reconcilia-
tion of the opposite.
Warning that "violence feeds
en violence" he acknowledged
the youth's right to disagree but
he maintained the need for them
to accept responsibilities.
Observing the grievances of
the disadvantaged lack of op-
portunity poor housing and en-
vironment breeding ills Muskie
aid our Job was to right these
wrong.
Closing out his speech with a
personal appeal Senator Edward
Muskie held Humphrey to be the
choice for Nov. 6 and urged us
to go forth with a sense ef
humanism.
ACCs annual Freeh-Soph ri-
valry day begins tomorrow at
8:00 a.m. with men's and wom-
en's volleyball.
One hundred points arc award-
ed for each sport A total of six
hundred points are needed to
win the day's event.
Only one class has won both
years. However no class has ever
lost both years but Mm fresh-
men feel that will change No-
vember 3.
In volleyball for men the best
two of three games of 21 points
each win the event It Is the
same for women exeept they
play until 16 points are scored.
Softball starts at 0:00 a.m. at
Taylor Elementary. No innings
will begin after 10:16.
Basketball for men consists of
two twenty-minute halves inclu-
ding five 30-seeond timeout per
side with a ten minute break at
halftime. The women play two
ten minute halves. This wW start
at 10:30.
Track events begin after lunch
at 12:S0. Men's activities Include
60-yard dash 100-yard dash
320-yard dash 440-yard dash
high jump broad jump
440-yard relay 810-yard relay
and the softball threw.
Track for women consist of
60-yard dash 76-yard dash
100-yard dash 44-yard relay
Group From ACC Sees
Up With People' Show
On November 21 Moody Coli-
seum Attractions will present
"Up With People" a group of
high school and college age
young people about 200 strong.
Ticket for Uie 7:30 perform-
ance have been on sale since
Monday. Price are $2.60 $2
and $1.60. All seat are reserved.
Recently the group per-
formed in Sen Angelo and Bob
Hunter assistant to the presi-
dent; Bill Cannon president of
the SA; Eddie McCoy vice presi-
dent of the SA; and David
Himes director of special events
for the SA went to see the

four were completely over-

"From the Initial fanfare of
the Sing-Out Brass to the final
chorus of "Up With People" the
show is one big bunt of enthusi-
asm" said Himes.
The featured talent includes
the Finis Fator Five Linda
Biaekmore Deborah Krrkpat-
rkk and Sam Caster.
"Up With People" started as
"Sing-Out '66" when a group of
eoiloge student leaders got to-
gether at Mackinac College
Mackinac Island Michigan and
decided that something was
wrong with our society.
The group decided to do
something about it and "Sing-
Out '66" was bom. They had a
philosophy and they began to
spread it around with music and
song.
Summed up in one phrase of
the song "Up With People"
their philosophy is to make
people "realise people arc more
important than thing."
The group has grown from the
original 60 to three national
east of over 200 each and
countless regional groups that
they have started in each town
and city they visit
"Up WKh People" has per-
formed in all of the fifty states
and many countries in Europe
Africa and the Orient Every-
where they have gone they have
been applauded by president
and kings a having the kind of
spirit they want their country-
