Peace for Young People” had
its World Premiere
performance Saturday evening,
November 14th at Midland
Community Theatre. Special
honored guests for that
performance were Miss Sara
Spencer of Anchorage, Ky.,
and Miss Martha McDaniel of
San Antonio.
Miss Spencer is
Vice-Chairman of the U.S.
Center for ASSITEJ,
Associationale du Theatre Pour
l’Enfrante et la Jeunesse,
(International Association of
Theatres for Children and
Youth), and is editor of
Anchorage Press, Inc., world’s
largest publishing house for
plays for young people.
Miss McDaniel, a professor
of drama at San Antonio
College, is Governor of Region
V of the Chidlren’s Theatre
Conference, which covers
Texas, New Mexibo,
Oklahoma, Arkansas and
Louisiana.

Regular meeting of Sands
Art Association is to be held
early because of Thanksgiving.
This session will be Thursday,
Nov. 19, at Art Center in
Monahans.
Barry Phillips, chairman of
the Art Department at Odessa
College, will present the
program on painting. He is
teaching a class Saturdays at
the Art Center Building this
semester.
Members are asked to bring
their paintings to the Art Mart
at Sandhills Museum, which
will continue through
February. A change has been
made, and paintings and art
work of all prices may be sold;
previously there was a limit of
$25. The Museum is open
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and
Sundays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Mrs. Edith Grissom has the
show at Texas Savings and
Loan Art Gallery at Main and
Third Streets.

TOYS WITH BOY APPEAL—Easy-to-make toys from
colorful cotton terry towels and wash cloths include a
bright red locomotive, complete with cowcatcher, and a
jaunty boat that sails under the name of S.S. Wash Cloth.
The locomotive is made from a hand towel and a group
of Cannon wash cloths. The boat, fashioned from seven
wash cloths, also makes a good gag gift for grown-up
boatsmen.
SINGING PERFORMERS — These fifth-grade students in Mrs. Bonnie Wilson’s class at
Intermediate Schdol lifted their voices in a patriotic presentation at assembly Wednesday. The
production was under direction of Mrs. Joan Helmer. Front row, left to right, they are Junior
