OPICY ginger cookies put together with apple'butter and cream filling
^ sound good, don’t they? And, made up w ith ghost, faces, as
Illustrated, the children will adore them for tlielr Hallowe’en party.
These cookies qan be mixed ahead of time, stored in your refrigerator
and baked whenever convenient. If stotfc-d in'a modern air-conditioned
ice refrigerator there will be no danger of the spiciness of the cookies
being transferred to otht r foods, because of the circulation of the
pure, washed air which takes pkrde constantly. The complete “ghosts’*
can "also be mad*- ahead of time'ami stored in’ your refrigerator.
GHOST REFRIGERATOR DESSERT: Cream 1 cup shortening,
adding 1 cup sugar gradually. Add 2 well beaten-eggs and ’i cup
molasses. Sift together IE cups Hour. 3 teaspoons ginger, 1 teaspoon-
soda. and 1 teaspoon salt, adding to first mixture while beating well.
M&ld into loaf that w ill make cookies about 2 inches square when cut.
Place In refrigerator for several days or until you wish to hake; if
. .yours is a new style air conditioned ice-refrigerator you need not even
bother to wrap the loaf in waxed paper.; Chill thoroughly and, when
ready to bake..’remove from refrigerator. Slice, arid hake 10 or 12
minutes In hot oven ( 1*'!' ). Put «ac tv 5 cookies- together w ith a
mixture ma lt- by cieaming 2 pm haters 1 • • 1 in cl • -e and mixing with
G cup tipple butt* r. and 'y. cu;> w lipping.vt * am" (whipped). Cover top
and sides also with et'vam«>d mixture and decorate with raisins as
llluatrated. Serves 10 to 12.
