I refinLshed seven pieces of furni-
ture by making a lye solution and
applying it with an old bnxfn and
brush. Then washed each - piece
flirt with clear water and tW*n with
vinegar rinse to neutralize the
lye. Each piece was sandpapered to
make it smooth so it would tAke a
good finish. I made an oil can Into
a wastebasket by painting it A
small bedside table was made from
apple boxes, varnished and waxed.
I I have a rocker in my room that
came from my grandfathers’ attfcaV
brought it home in pieces. After re-
pairing. bracing, and refinishing it,
it is very nice and is the thing!l am
most proud of. Another old rocker
was converted into a low stool to be
placed in^ront cf the dresser.

The way the furniture is arrang-
