Culpepper died last Wednesday
and was buried in the Shiner cem-
etery Thursday evening. The
sorrowing parents have the full

Ifitet Wednesday night were agree
ahly surprised and brilliantly en-
tertained. The children were
out in full force, ranging in size
from knee high to nearly grown,
and they enjoyed themselves to
the top of Iheir bent.
Tbe costumes were varied and
brilliant and it would be impossi>
ble for The Gazette-to enumerate
them, save to say that they were
brilliant and dazzling. There
were iu all about 'eighty-four
masks and the fun was kept going
at a lively rate until 12 o’clock
and then some of them were , loth
to give up.
The following costumes were
awarded prizes: Master Julius
Seydler, as chief of Shiner Fire
Company, received a prize donat-
ed by Mr..Philip) We!hausen, also
little Ella Scbram as sponsor of
the Fire Company'. Master Diet-
rich Niemeyer as a fireman. Lit-
tle Annie Emler received the prize
donated by Mr. John Vnlenta, for
representing the Shiner Oil MiII.
Tbe gross receipts taken at the
door amounted to $56.50, the ex-
