A New Idea for Krldesmalde.
A rather. ct,v Idea, was started for
bridesmaids at a fashionable wedding
which took piice recently in London,
instead of car ring the ordinary bou-
quet, each bridesmaid has a violet vel-
vet muff. w;;h a large bunch of nat-
ural violets, with their tender green
leaves and trails of- buds, fastened on
the top of the muff. This had a very
charming and novel effect and might
be carried out in many different way's.
Pale pink satin muffs, with trails of
pink roses, would look lovely.

Probably the most remarkable dnux-
mer who ever lived was Jeau Henri,
the fathous tambour major of the Em-
peror Napoleon. Otie of his feats was
to play on fifteen different toned
drums at. the same- time in so soft and
harmonious a manner that, instead of
the deafening uproar that might have
been expected, the effect was that of a
ovel and complete instrument. In
playing he passed from one drum to
the other with such wonderful quick-
ness that the _eye of the spectators
could hardly follow the movement of
his hands and body.
