Word was wired to this city
this morning that Walter Jones
.had defeated Dr. A. W. bly for
J re-election as mayor of Galyeston.
i Fly was'a conspicuous and atro-
,gant advocate of Hawley' and his
defeat will -oerhaps improve de-
mocratic chances next time in that
congressional district. In that
view democrats throughout the
state will rejoice that the doctor
was “hoisted on his own petard,”
so to speak. Galyeston is intense-
ly and notoriously selfish and the
Strand will in all likelihood ral-
ly again from this stunning blow
to make another fight for Hawley
but its forces will be so demoraliz-
ed that the rest of the district can
perhaps overcome her. Jones has
been chief of police of the city,
and was formerly a young farmer
at Vox Populi, Colorado county.
He is a fine young fellow whose
advancement has been rapid on
account of high character and
ability and he will undoubtedly
make the city an able and cour-
ageous -mayor. The election was
a democratc inning though Jones
himself is not much of a party
man.—Cuero Star.

You may have heard
about SCOTT’S EMULSION
and have a vague notion
that it is cod*liver oil with
its bad taste and smell and
all its other repulsive fea-
tures. It is cod-liver oil, the
purest and the best in the
world, but made $o palata-
ble that, almost everybody
can take it. Nearly all
children like it and ask for
more.
SCOTT'S
EMULSION
looks like cream; it nour-
ishes the wasted body of
the baby, child or adult
better than cream or any
other food in existence. It
bears about the same rela-
tion to other emulsions that
cream does to milk. If you
have had any Experience
with other so-called “jyst as
good” preparations, you
will find that this is a fad.
The hypophoephites that art
combined with the’ cod-ltvtr oil
g>ve additional value to it because
they tone up the nervous system
and impart strength to the whole
body.
