Miss Pamela Rice and Mr. Parks
Honored at Pre-Nuptial Parties
The Progress—Aransas Pass, Texas

A tea and bridal shower
honoring Miss Pamela Clare
Rice, bride-elect of Bill Parks,
was held Saturday afternoon
in the home of Mrs. Owen
Rhodes, 1808 South Commer-
cial.
Hostesses were Mrs. J. M.
Attaway Jr., Mrs. Lewis
Kutschke, Mrs Monroe Lam-
berth, Mrs. R. P. Park, Mrs.
H. O. Coleman Mrs. M E.
Naylor and Mrs. Rhodes.
In the receiving line with
the honoree and Mrs. Rhodes
were Mrs. Hal Parks and Mrs.
Clara Rice, the bride-elects’
grandmother.
Registering the guests was
Mrs. Joe Ed Meyer of Whar-
ton. Serving in the house party
were Mrs. James W. Winkle,
Mrs. Jimmy Peer, Mrs. Jerry
Clanton, Miss Clare Coleman,
Mrs. Hal M. Parks and Mrs.
Jackson Moss.
The serving table was drap-
ed with white net over taf-
feta with the gathered skirt
accented at the corners with
white satin bows lined with
gold lace and centered with
wedding bells. Carrying out
the bride-elects colors of yel-
low and gold, a three tier
golden compote was filled
with yellow gladioli and
greenery with a clear plastic
fountain effect over the en-
tire arrangement. Flanking
the arrangement were yellow |
tapers in bronze candle hold
ers with gold lily of the val
ley accent. Finger sandwiches,
petits fours, coffee and punch
were served.
Barbecue Honoring Couple
Miss Rice and Mr. Parks
were named honorees at a
chicken barbecue Saturday
night at Live Oak Country
Club. Hosts were Mr. and Mrs
J. L. Meredith and Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Richmond.
Barbecue with all the trim-
mings was served to approx-
imately forty guests.
Mexican Dinner
In a Spanish setting, with
a background of Mexican
music, Miss Rice and Mr.
Parks were entertained April
25 at La Fonda in Corpus
Christi.
Hosts were Mr. and Mrs
J. F. Park of Corpus Christi
and Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Park of this city.
A mexican dinner was serv-
ed to twenty-two guests and
the couple was presented with
a gift from the hosts.
Miss Rice and Mr. Park
will be married here June
5 at the First Presbyterian
Church.

Plans For
Coming Year
The May business meeting
of the Wesleyan Service Guild
of the First Methodist Church
was held Monday evening
Mrs. Elton Mayer, president,
presided.
The worship setting consist-
ed of an open Bible, a tall
gold cross, a shell with color-
ful leaves, books, and other
articles used for study. Par-
ticipating in the meditation
were Mrs. Arthur Kendall,
Mrs. Merrill Manship, Mrs.
Ross Truesdale and Mrs. John
Loftin. A choral reading was
used by the group.
Miss Marie Huckabee was
named delegate to the school
of missions to be held in
Kerrville, July 27-31 and an-
nual Guild week end July 31-
August 2.
Tentative plans for the
summer months were made.
Miss Ruth Donigan, Corpus
Christi, new Guild Conference
Secretary, will install the lo-
cal officers May 18 for the
coming year. Members of the
Woman’s Society of Christian
Service are invited to attend
as special guests.
The annual pledge service
will be led by Mrs. Merrill
Manship.

School Class of the First Bap-
tist Church met Monday eve-
ning at the home of the class
teacher, Mrs. C. E. Farley.

committee chairmen, Mrs. L.

ing. The bride-elect is a graduate of Aransas Pass High
School and the groom-to-be is a graduate of Ingleside
High School and is now completing courses at Cisco
Junior College in Cisco. Texas.

VACATIONING IN
COLORADO
Mrs. Mary Parsons left Sat-
urday afternoon for Colorado
for a two weeks vacation vis-
iting with her mother and
brother. She was accompanied
by Mrs. E. A Oliver Jr. of
San Antonio.
BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT
Mr and Mrs. Clifton Greer
announce the birth of a son
May 1 at Andrew’s Air Force
Base Hospital in Washington,
D. C. He weighed 11 pounds
