City Joins
School In
Tax Collections
In a recent meeting of the
city commission of Ingleside
following a discussion held
with reference to Ingleside
Independent School District’s
notices of intention of suit on
delinquent taxes, the commis-
sion voted to join the school
in the suit for the collection
of taxes.
The city was informed that
in case of suit and the city
did enter its claim for delin-
quent taxes it would lose its
claim for the taxes.
The board of equalization
for 1964 serves jointly for
the school district and the
city. Members of the board
are Earnest Bennight, chair-
man, Gerald Storms and Jack
Hudlow.
In a meeting last month
the school board voted to
start legal action to collect
the outstanding delinquent
taxes.

1964 graduate of Ingleside
High School, was compli-
mented at a swimming party
Tuesday at the North Shore
Marina.
Guests were the members
of the senior class of Ingle-
side High School.
Refresments were served
by the hostesses, Mrs. D. Ver-
ban, Mrs M. E. Naylor and
Mrs. Walter F. Gass.
Mrs. Naylor and Mrs Gass
are aunts of the honoree and
Mrs Verban is her mother.

WSG Members
A regular business meeting
and social of the Wesleyan
Service Guild was held Mon-
day evening in the home of
Mrs Ollie R. Stewart. Fol-
lowing the business and pro-
gram, a surprise shower was
given to Mrs. Zelma Shrider,
who is leaving Thursday for
the summer for a visit in
Hawaii with her daughter,
Mrs Bill Wilkinson.
Mrs C. M Barber, presi-
dent, presided at the business
session She outlined some
of the aims and objectives
of the new year’s work of
the guild.
At the conclusion of the
business meeting, Mrs. J D.
King directed a program, the
theme of which was, "The
Church, Beginning Where We
Live.” She was assisted in
presenting the program by
Mrs Stewart, Mrs. B R.
Bowden and Mrs. Barber.
The worship center had as
its background a plaque di-
picting the Praying Hands.
In front of it was the open
Bible and a vase of red roses.
Tall lighted tapers completed
the impresive effect.
Following the program,
while the group sang a Ha-
waiian song, Mrs. Joe Sykes
wearing a grass skirt, enter-
ed with a large flower bas-
ket filled with gifts and pre-
sented them to Mrs. Shrider.
A flower lei was draped
around the honoree’s neck
to complete the Hawaiian set-
ting.
Colorful flowers in an ar-
tistic arrangement centered
the refreshment table. Sher-
bet cups, cake, punch and
mints were served.
Attending were thirteen
members, the co-ordinator,
Mrs. W F. Hamil and the
Rev. and Mrs. Lon Speer.

direct the service with other state officers participating Following the levelling, a
luncheon honoring the Grand Lodge officers will be held at North Shore Marina
The new air-conditioned school and gym is scheduled to be finished in January,

Tuesday of the death of Mrs
C. R Witte of San Benito,
mother of Mrs. Norris Maley
of this city.
Funeral services will be
held at 4 p m. Thursday in
San Benito.
Leaving immediately for
the valley were Mr. and Mrs
Maley and their daughter.

Zelma Marie Langton, 17,
were held Thursday after-
noon at the First Methodist
Church
The Rev A II Bankert of-
ficiated and burial was in
Prairie View Cemetery under
the direction of Cage-Mar-
shall Funeral Home.
Miss Langton, a resident
here for three years, died
Wednesday in a Corpus Chris-
ti hospital after a long ill-
ness.
Prior to her illness, she
was a member of this year's
graduating class at Ingleside
High School The senior girls
rendered special music at the
service and senior boys were
pallbearers.
She was born in Leesville,
La
Survivors are her parents.
Mr and Mrs. LeRoy Lang-
ton; a sister, Dorothy Louise
Langton, and a brother, Clif
ton LeRoy Langton, all of
Ingleside; the maternal
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs

Funeral services for Mrs.
H F Gillespie, 87, of Woods-
boro, mother of Mrs. Cleve
Blasche of this city, were
held Monday at the First Bap-
tist Church there.
The Rev J R Johnston of-
ficiated. He was assisted by
Brett Hargrave and Rev Paul
Fletcher of Odem Burial was
in La Rosa Cemetery.
Mrs. Gillespie, a resident
of the area for 46 years, died
in a Woodsboro hospital Sat-
urday morning She was a
member of the First Baptist
Church
She is survived by five
sons, Raymond, Wayne and
Melvin, all of Woodsboro, and
Emmitt of Victoria and Royce
of Refugio; two daughters,
Mrs Vida Smart of Port La-
vaca and Mrs. Lucille Blasch-
ke of Ingleside. one brother,
Calvin Stone of Bayside;
three sisters, Mrs. Bell Truitt
of Stevenville, Mrs. Temple
McEntire of Bayside and Mrs.
