March 17, with a bridal tea
In the home of Mrs. Nell Yea-
mans, 341 W. Greenwood St.
Receiving the guests with the
honoree were her mother, Mrs.
J. B. Flagg, Jr. of this city,
and her grandmother, Mrs. W.
A. Page, Humble.
A skirted cloth of yellow
satin trimmed with tiny bows
and seeded pearls graced the
serving table. Silver and crys-
tal appointments placed by Mrs.
Earl Ives were used for serv-
ing.
Punch, tea, coffee, cake and
an assortment of mints and nuts
were served to the approxi-
mately fifty guests who called
during the afternoon.
A floral arrangement of yel-
low daises and mums was pla-
ced at a vantage point in the
receiving room, accenting the
bride-elect’s colors.
Hostesses were Mrs. Yea-
mans, Mrs. Jerry Wylie, Mrs.
D. M. Stever, Mrs. H. D. Bo-
norden, Mrs. Monroe Rolls,
Mrs. Douglas Yeamans, Mrs.
Elton Mayer, Mrs. Charles
Spain, Mrs. Frankie King, and
Mrs. Gilbert Mircovlch.
Assisting the hostesses in
serving were Miss Vicki Gregg
and Miss Aliesha Yeamans.
Among the out-of-town guests
present were Mrs. JohnSitton
and Miss Darlene Page, Hum-
ble; Mrs. J. B. Flagg, Sr. and
Mrs. J. L. Wollard, Ingleside,
and Miss Jane Ginther, San
Marcos.
Grandmothers
Game Party
Well Attended
The Aransas Pass Grand-
mothers Club sponsored itsan-
nual game party Friday from
11 to 4 o'clock in the VFW
Hall.
Members of the Grandmo-
thers Clubs in the area and fri-
ends from Ingleside, Portland,
Corpus Christi and Aransas
Pass enjoyed games of canasta,
bridge, "42” and aggravation.
At noon sandwiches, potato
chips, home made cookies, cor-
chips, home made cookies, cof-
fee and tea were served.
Members of the club would
like to thank all merchants
who donated the gifts that were
given to the guests as door
prizes.
Mrs. Frank De La Rosa Sr.
is chairman of the Ways and
Means Committee of the local
club and was in charge of all
arrangements.
Approximately sixty people
attended.

To Host
Ceremonial
Members of the Aransas Pass
Nile Club will be hostess for a
Ceremonial to be held here
Saturday at the Masonic Hall,
1246 W. Wheeler.
A salad luncheon will be serv-
ed at 12 noon with the cere-
monial following. A covered
dish dinner will be served at
5:30 with open installation of
officers following at 7:30 p.m.
Coffee and cake will be ser-
ved foUowing the installation.

Local Student?
Enjoy Spring Vocation
Last week was spring vac-
ation for some of the local
college students. Roger Wat-
son of Texas A & I University
and Susan Watson of the Uni-
versity of Houston entertain-
ed with a beach party and fish
fry for some of their college
friends.
Attending were Walter Eas-
tern of Texas A & I; Melissa
Landers, Sally Durham, Mar-
garet Lamsens, Robert Mich-
ael, Jim O’Danie and Andy Keith
of the University of Houston;
David Dennis of Stephen F.
Austin; Robert Paulow of Del
Mar College; and Mary Cart-
wright and Mary Ellen Bruney
of Pan American University.
All enjoyed the outing in spite
of the weather.
Texas Day and Friendship
Day was observed by the Aran-
sas Pass Woman’s Club with
a Bluebonnet Tea in the home
of Mrs. Gary Boehnke on Tues-
day morning, March 13 with
Mrs. David Bethune, Mrs. Jim-
mie Peer and Mrs. Ted Brooks
as co-hostesses. Mrs. Bren
Bishop, program chairman,
welcomed Mrs. Jim Bauknleht
as special guest of the Blue-
bonnet Tea. She extended words
of appreciation on behalf of
the club in recognition of Mrs.
Bauknight’s many endeavors
and services as immediate past
president. She was presented
with a beautiful red carnation
corsage and a hand painted
bone-china candle holder with
scented candle.
An attractive array of fresh
fruit balls, strawberries, pine-
apples, miniature sweet rolls
and donuts, coffee and spiced
tea were served from silver
and crystal appointments. A
large arrangement of bluebon-
nets with a white styrofoam
outline of "Texas” in the cen-
ter captured the focal point of
the table, which was laid with
a delicate hand crocheted heir-
loom table cloth. Floral ar-
rangements of bluebonnets were
placed throughout the room.
During a business session
presided over by president Mrs.
Troy Shirley, the announcement
was made that the Aransas
Pass Woman’s Club won 11 first
place awards at the district
convention held in Laredo Mar-
ch 8-9. Among the first place
awards was Poet Laureate, won
by Mrs. Shirley for a poem
she wrote. Another first place
award was won by Mrs. Albert
Holguin in the “Fashions For
Fun” contest for a 3 piece
pant suit she designed and mod-
eled. Committee chairmen gave
their reports. Among them a
report by project chairman
Mrs. Jimmie Peer and Mrs.
Jim Bauknlght concerning the
assistance given a needy fam-
ily by means of food, clothing,
and medical attention. Mrs.
Troy Shirley reported on the
Woman’s Club par in the up
and coming 1973 Shrimporee.
It was also reported that we
would be manning the Switch
board for the annual Cerebral
Palsy Telethon.
The devotion was brought by
Mrs. Jimmie Peer.

Presents Program
To Portland Group
The Xi Xi Zeta Chapter of
Beta Sigma Phi met Tuesday
evening at the home of Mrs.
G. M. Murphy, Jr., 225 E.
Broadway, Portland.
Mrs. Byron L. Calcote of
Ingleside presented the pro-
gram, entitled "Personal Mot-
ivation”.
The speaker was a guest of
Mrs. T. C. Bruce who intro-
duced Mrs. Calcote to the group.
The Ritual of Jewels pre-
ceded a business meeting and
was presented by Mrs. W. D.
Greene, President, assisted by
Mrs. Toy E. Fowler and Mrs.
G. M. Murphy, Jr.
Those receiving the Ritual of
Jewels Degree were Mrs. Henry
Albers, Mrs. Rodney Parker
and Mrs. T. C. Bruce.
Mrs. Murphy served a variety
of hors d’oeuvres, cheese balls,
cookies, mints and nuts with
coffee and punch to Mrs. Max
Cornelius, Mrs. Glenn Purdum,
Mrs. Henry Albers, Mrs. W.
D. Greene, Mrs. H. F. Messer,
Mrs. Calcote, Mrs. Toy E.
Fowler, Mrs. Edna Richter and
Mrs. Bruce.

Mrs. David Cobb was hos-
tess to the Alpha Delta Tau
Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi
Thursday in her home with Mrs.
Don Burns serving as co-hos-
tess.
"Music’s Influence On Our
Lives” was the topic of the
evening’s program, presented
by Mrs. Karl Farmer and Mrs.
Carl Hughes.
Following the program, new
officers for the coming year
were elected. They are Mrs.
Bill Aiiten, president; Mrs.
Jerry Jernlgan, 1st vice pre-
sident; Mrs. Louis Knippa,Jr.,
2nd vice president; Mrs. James
Hale, recording secretary;
Mrs. David Cobb, correspond-
ing secretary; Mrs. Bennie
Diegel was re-elected treasur-
er and Mrs. David Littleton,
extension officer.
Mrs. Carl Hughes was cho-
sen as the “Girl of the Year”.
The next meeting will be held
April 5 in the home of Mrs.
Louis Knippa.

The Mary Martha Circle of
the Methodist Church metfues-
day morning at the home of
Mrs. Mark Scott.
Officers were elected for the

"Twelve Rules for Happi-
ness” was the program pre-
sented by Mrs. Allen assisted
by Mrs. Annie Hanke.

coffee during the social hour.

ganization will be held April 3
