P-TA Sets

Names Officers
Plans for the annual Hal-
loween Carnival, sponsored
by Ingleside Parent-Teach-
ers Association, were made
at a regular meeting of the
association Oct. 8.
Mrs. C. H. Harvey was
named carnival chairman.
The carnival will be held on
Oct. 31 with the parade kick-
ing off the events at 4 p. m.
The parade will start at the
Methodist Church and con-
tinue down main street. Fol-
lowing the parade, the car-
nival activities will open at
the Elementary grounds.
At 8 p. m. the Amateur
Hour will be held at the high
school gymnasium.
Gilbert Mircovich, P-TA
president, presided at the
meeting. A film on respira-
tory ailments was presented
at the meeting by Mrs. Gus
Hollan of the Coastal Bend
TB Association.
Rev. Lon Speer gave the
inspirational and refresh-
ments were served by the
ninth grade room mothers.
Mircovich announced that
the next meeting of the P-TA
will be held on Nov. 12 at 3
p. m. in the Elementary
School Auditorium. The pro-
gram will be presented by
the Nueces County Health
Unit and will be on First Aid,
bringing out the devices that
can be used in respiratory
cases.
A meeting of Our Lady of
the Assumption Altar Soci-
ety of Inglerfde was held Oct.
7 with 23 members in attend-
ance.
New officers elected are
Mrs. R. L. Mueller, president;
Mrs. G. H. Quiel, vice presi-
dent; Mrs. Paul Hood, sec-
retary, and Mrs. Clara Hahn,
treasurer.
Plans were made to have
a bazaar in the early part of
December with handmade
items on sale for Christmas
presents.
The meeting was adjourn-
ed with refreshments being
served by Mrs.. D. O. Camp-
bell and Mrs. Paul Hood.

WSCS Begins
New Study
“The Church’s Mission
Among New Nations” is the
theme of the mission study
begun Tuesday by the Wo-
man’s Society of Christian
Service. Mrs. Lon Speer and
Mrs. Bob Gaines are conduct-
ing the study.
The study began this week
and will continue for four
sessions.
Ingleside Rotary Club met
for a general business meet-
ing Tuesday with Jack Barth,
president, presiding.
A committee was appointed
to investigate the possibilities
of Rotary Club in Portland
Robert Oman, executive J
vice president of the First
National Bank of Ingleside,
was presented as a new mem-
ber.

DIES EN BAYTOWN

Frank Savage, a former
resident oif Ingleside, died
suddenly at his home in Bay-
town Monday afternoon af-
ter a heart attack.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday afternoon in that |
city.
Savage, who moved from
Ingleside to Baytown when
the Humble refinery closed
here, was retired from Hum-
ble Oil & Refining Co. at the
time of his death.
He is survived by his wife.
Rose; two sons, Frank Jr.,
and Sammy, and three grand-
children.
