Board
W.F. (Bill) Ross has been
elected controller of Central
Power and Light Company by
the Board of Directors. Ross
succeeds Frank Lane who
retired from the utility com-
pany this month with more than
*4 years of service.
As CPL’s controller, Ross is
head of the company’s Home
Office accounting department
in, Corpus Christi and is
responsible for CPL accounting
operations in the 209 communi-
ties served by the company.
Lane played a major part in
streamlining CPL accounting
operations during the past two
decades with more wide-spread
use of machine bookkeeping
methods The Chicago native
attended Loyola University in
Chicago, and worked as an
accountant for the Middle West
Service Company and the
Peoples Gas -Light and Coke
Company there before moving
to Corpus Christi in 1940
Ross is a native of Austwell
and has a service record of 33
years with CPL. He was
graduated from the University
of Texas with a degree in
Business Administration and
joined CPL in 1940 After
'several promotions in the
company’s accounting and tax
areas, he was promoted to
assistant controller in 19o3 and
purchasing agent in 1970.
Ross and his wjfe, Margue-
rite, have three children. He is
active in the Gulf Coast
Purchasing Association and St.
Pius X Catholic Church.
