In order that the very best of
life be fnade I’ve found it ever
profitable to work according to a
fixed plan or program which, being
kept in the mind, is a constant com-
panion, and serves as an excellent
factor in aiding the performance of
those seemingly trivial tasks but
which truly constitute the whole of
life. I have also discovered this to
be a labor as well as a time-saving
method. Ere I entered upon my
day’s labor this morn I consulted
my program and found that this is
the day set apart by me in which
to def dll necessary writing; and
having done this, and yet being in
a writing mood, I shall again write
to The Journal. I was absent
last week, but for almost innumer-
able reasons. I’ll simply state, ere
I write anything else, that mater-
ial about which to write is of such
a small quantity here that I’ll be
compelled to write either a short
and uninteresting letter or none at
all, and believing that the former
would bp better than the latter I’ll
write such.
