Wildcats

The women's basketball
team beat .JTexas A&M-;
Klngsvllle 81-66 its litest
challenge to the home-game
winning streak.
The Wildcats extended their
vylnnlng streak to 33 games in
Moody Coliseum.
ACU did not gain control of
the game until the second half.

Head coach Suzanne Fox said
the Wildcats ran more zone
defense instead of Its tradition-
al man-to-man defense.
As for the ACU offense the
head coach said opposing
teams are beginning to predict
what. Wildcat posts are going
to do so establishing consisten-
cy when shooting from the

Men win key conference game

The mcnls basketball team squandered a lead of
17 points but still managed to come back and
' outscore Texas A&M-Klngsville 67-64 In Moody
Coliseum Thursday.
The victory ended a four game losing streak.
ACU 12-11 5-8 in the Lone Star Conference
led by nirie points at the half and by 17 with 15:22
remaining in the game; less than nine minutes
later the Wildcats were trailing TAMK 60-58.

"The Wildcats regained the lead when Chaz
Jackson sophomore from San Antonio made a
three pointer with 2:49 remaining in the game.
"Chaz really gave us a boost" the coach said.
"He hit It at the right time; that was a clutch

The Wildcats had a 13-polnt lead against the
Javellnas.but lost 93-74 at Klngsvllle Jan. 13.
TAMKls leading scorer Des Stewart was limited
to nine points and seven rebounds Thursday.
Stewart was averaging 20.4 points per game this
season which is second in the LSC. Stewart also
registered 32 points against the Wildcats on Jan
13. '
. "Brent Wilson and Jared Mosley did a great job
with Des Stewart" Hays said. "Jared got him frus-
trated early."
TAMK head coach Bill Carter said "He was frus-
trated and it hurt us to have to take a guy out
who is averaging 20 points a game."
Stewart was forced to sit out much of the game
because of foul trouble.
. ;The Wildcats were led by Broderlck Bobb
junior from Navasota with 17 points. Bobb is
averaging 13.4 points per game this season.
"He was the key to the whole game" Hays said.

John Cole senior from Abilene Is the most experienced
college-level player returning having earned three varsity
letters and aiming for his fourth.
As team leader Cole said the team should match last
year success when the Wildcats finished eighth in the
nation In NCAA Division II
"Last year we lost in the second round" Cole said. "We
have three freshmen this year and they all look good.
They will definitely add to the team."
Cole said the role of team leader is lmportantt to a new
coach" Coje said. "With our experience level' the man
thing to show the freshmen Is our work ethic. We've had.
