Seaman Maeker
Writes from Vietnam
The following is part of
a letter Mrs. Frances Me-
recka received from Sea-
man Errol Maeker from
Vietnam:
“I am still on the Constel-
lation and we are still off
the co^st of Vietnam. We
were in the Philippine Is-
lands for a while for liberty
und Hong Kong, China for
a while, but now we are
back at sea. We are sup-
posed to go to Japan next,
but I am not sure.
“1 made Aviation Elec-
trician 3rd Class, so that’s
another stripe and a little
more money. I doubt I will
be home in December for
we may have to stay here
longer but don’t know for
sure yet. We aboard this
ship got a medal and two
ribbons for our action
against the reds when we
bombed their PT bases
back in August. We got
the unit commendation rib-
bon and the expeditionary
medal. We are sure proud
of them and our ship.”
