At the annual meeting of
the Fayette Resources De-
velopment Council meeting
held last Wednesday night
in La Grange, one director
was re-elected and two new
directors were chosen.
Leon R. Kainer of Fla-
tonia was re-elected a mem-
ber of the board of direc-
tors. The new directors
chosen were Don Nagel of
Round Top and Franklin
Brandt of Holman, succeed-
ing R. E. Friedrich Jr. of
Waldeck and J. E. Morgan
of Plum.
Walter Oeltjen of La
Grange was elected to fill
out the unexpired term of
the late Walter. H. Mueller.
Officers re-elected were:

chairman; Warren Albrecht

Mr. and Mrs. John Svatek
of Tripoli, Libya, are the
proud parents of a baby
boy born July 1 in Tripoli.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Svatek of
Flatonia received the tele-
gram announcing his ar-
rival last Saturday. He re-
ceived the name of Stephen
Robert and was welcomed
by a brother, Johnnie
Thomas.

Kocian Family Has
Annual Reunion
The 13th Kocian reunion
in memory of the late
Joseph and Johanna Kocian
was held at the American
Legion Hall in Moulton on
June 6. A basket lunch was
served and immediately fol-
lowing a meeting was open-
ed by the president, Willie
Bartos. A prayer was said
for the deceased of the Ko-
cian family, led by the
Father.
The following were elect-
ed as officers: Willie Bar-
tos, president; Theofil Ko-
cian, vice president; Mar-
tha Jancek, secretary; Eu-
gene Spaniel, treasurer, and
Alton C. Dittrich, reporter.
Several of the families
received special gifts, Mrs.
George Luksovsky for the
youngest child, 8 month old
Janet Luksovsky; Mrs. Ju-
lia Janecka, 76, oldest per-
son in attedance; Mrs. Wal-

Colony Homecoming
Sunday, June 27, a large
crowd attended the Home-
coming at Colony. Each
family brought a basket
lunch, tea, cool^aid and soda
water. At 12 noon every-
one gathered around the
long tables to fill their
plates; the blessing was
asked by Rev. Robert Thrift
pastor of Elm Grove Baptist

In the afternoon a mu-
sical program was given by
Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hermes
and Cindy of Cuero and
Ronnie Hackett of Pasa-
dena. Mrs. Mabeth Bigley
of Muldoon played the
piano for several church
songs, which were enjoyed
by all.

thank all of those who help-
ed so graciously in helping
make this Homecoming suc-

Last Rites Held
Tuesday For
Mrs. F. Needham
Funeral services for Mrs.
Frances Needham, 84, were
held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at
the Koenig Funeral Home,
La Grange, with Rev. John
F. Jensen officiated. Inter-
ment was in Colony Ceme-
tery.
Mrs. Needham was for-
merly of Colony, but had
lived in Houston and Fay-
etteville during the last 10
years. She passed away
Sunday at Fayette Memor-
ial Hospital.
She was born at Muldoon
May 11, 1881, daughter of
Asa and Martha Ray Hatch.
She was married to Sam
Needham on Nov. 20, 1901.
He preceded her in death
on March 4, 1953.
Survivors are a daughter,
Mrs. Ora Bertling of near
Fayetteville; one son, Er-
nest Needham of Houston;
two sisters, Mrs. Olla Lauf-
er and Mrs. Maggie Laufer
of Muldoon; four brothers,
Asa, of Flatonia, Eddie of

Renewing friendships and
reminiscing “old times” was
the order of the day for the
Flatonia High ^School class
of 1955 as it held its first
class reunion on Saturday,
July 3, at the American Le-
gion Hall.
Many of the classmates
had not seen each other
since graduation. Numer-
ous marriages and the birth
of 52 children produced an
interesting afternoon family
session.
A short break in the pro-
gram allowed the tired par-
ents to take the children to
their grandparents so that
the evening session could
begin. A program and ban-
quet followed. Ervan Zou-
zalik served as master of
ceremonies; Jesse Logan
read the class history; Joy
Anderson read the class
prophecy, and Betty Fis-
beck concluded with a brief-
ing on the current status of
each classmate.
Next came a short busi-
ness session during which it
was decided to have the
Jesse Logan was elected
president; Leonard Barta,
secretary - treasurer, and
Betty Fisbeck was selected
as reunion chairman. The
class voted to place a floral
centerpiece on the grave of
Alfred Gosch, a classmate
who met a tragic death in
1951. Dancing and more
reminiscing concluded the
evening.

Hallettsville; Mr. and Mrs.
pressing her regrets for not
being able to attend.
